Nightgrinders is now FLUX Industries.

The Review
First of all, if you haven't read the Nightgrinders review, take some time to do that now. Flux risers are essentially the same thing, with a few basic differences and improvements.

The most noticeable improvement is without a doubt the size. Flux has brought the size down to 3/8"--about a centimeter (actually, it's just under 7/16" but who's counting.) This is a great improvement over the previous 10/16". The smaller size makes it more practical to stack them, providing twice the illumination.

Also, they have gone from using aluminum to plastic. At first, I admit, this was a disappointing change, metal risers seemed pretty cool, but in all reality it is more practical. The chances of a the plastic risers breaking is about one to none and they weigh less than the metal ones. Hopefully the plastic ones are cheaper to manufacture and the savings will be passed on to the consumer.

The new Flux risers have three lights on front instead of two in the front and one in the back. The lights appear to be individually brighter than they were, and with three in front, provide quite a bit of illumination.

They also now come in a variety of colors. Green is brightest with white following closely. Blue and purple don't provide much illumination, but look pretty cool. I think that the red ones are great for the back trucks as they make for great brake lights.

Are they practical? Yes, for providing added visibility for cars seeing you, they are great. Will they light up your way in the middle of the night, not really. Don't get me wrong, they are better than nothing, and you will be glad to have them on a skate home in the dark but they aren't going to stop you from hitting a pebble at 25mph.

Aside from the practicality, they are head turners and most people think they look very cool. They provide a quick facelift to a tired looking board.

Overall, they're a fun, sometimes practical addition to any board with trucks that takes either new or old school drilling patterns. Don't try using them with ExKates, Original Trucks or Bakus...
