Cathlamet Downhill Corral
PdxDownhill.com , Rip City Skates, and Cathlamet, WA are proud to announce the Cathlamet Downhill Corral. This is a two day longboard festival held August 29th and 30th 2009. Featuring a 6+ mile longboard push race and bicycle invitational Saturday on nearby Puget Island, followed by a longboard slalom race in Cathlamet with a course set up by Skip Marcotte. The downhill race course was set by Billy Meiners, and will be through downtown Cathlamet all day Sunday. The course is very similar to Kimberly, BC's Sullivan Challenge. It is slow to start off but then gets steep and technical very quickly. There will be a $500 cash prize (donated by Rip City Skates) for 1st place and custom boards for the podium donated by Rayne. This is the first race of its kind in Cathlamet, Washington. Signup for whichever race (or all) at www.ripcityskate.com . We are capping this at 150 riders, and a mere $80 for the downhill race, so sign up soon!
There will be demo boards to check out, an instructional clinic for local kids and spectators Friday night, as well as several longboard vendors on hand. Overnight camping is available at the (very) nearby marina. More information available at www.pdxdowhill.com and www.ripcityskate.com Leathers are recommended. Full face and full pads required for the downhill race, helmets required for all races. The Cathlamet Downhill Corral is the weekend before the Maryhill Festival of Speed, so start getting in shape for a long week of skating!
