As a precursor to the Encinitas Open, the La Costa Boys ran an outlaw GS on the infamous Pump Station hill, in San Diego, California. The event offered fast racing and good times, with hours of solid racing for the spectators. When it was all over, the day belongs to Jason "Racer X" Mitchell, who bested all comers by almost a second and a half! His pursuers were hotly contesting the hill, and running blistering times, but just weren't able to catch Mitchell. The Legends, Juniors, Women and "Self-Defined C Divisiion" also skated the formidable hill. In the Legends class, the over-50 set included Cliff Coleman, Gib Lewis, Chris Yandall, Norski and Jamie Hart. Yandall signalled a "come back", by leading his field with over a half-second.
