Fresh from the stokers at Rayne Longboards, a two-day freeriding event on a 2.1km descent with more than a dozen hairpins! Check this out! Rayne Longboards is hosting the first ever freeride at Giant’s Head Park in Summerland BC. The weekend event will take place on the Canada Day long weekend June 28th and 9th, 2008. The course has 13 expert level hairpin corners and 700 vertical feet of drop, which sends riders through 2.1 km of intense riding. The course is unlike any other major event in North America! It's a narrow road and the steep drop offs alongside have, until recently, discouraged authorities from allowing riders to be on the road. Don't worry, though: event organizers have taken every precaution to ensure the safety of the course s at its best and the rumors of huge razor wire bundles at the bottom of each cliff aren't true!
Mike "Serial5" Benda stylin' on the Giant's Head. The intent of the weekend is to push riders' abilities far beyond their current skill set. On Saturday June 28th, riders will be sent to ravage each of the three sections of the course based on their current riding ability. The second day will have the riders facing each other in a head-to-head ladder-bracketed race. We've got room for 140 riders and will attract at around 1000 spectators, each of whom will scream like girls at a Hannah Montana concert as the skaters rip past. The community of Summerland has opened their city to us and embraced this event with their expressed support. We hope to draw upon the excitement surrounding the event andexpand awareness to the surrounding Thompson Okanogan region. The Ride the Giant Freeride promises to be the most intense weekend of riding with participants having the privilege of riding this very special mountain. Check this thing out! ### If you would like more information about this event, or to schedule an interview with Andrew Monaghan, please call 778.338.5044 or email ridethegiant@raynelongboards.com.
