[This submission comes straight from Norah at Roarockit , they have a pretty awesome board building system and spread the stoke by teaching others to build boards, pretty cool if you ask us. If you haven't ever built your own board we highly recommend it. Read on for for some stoked out builds.] grouping of decks made in Open Studio, builders include Ted, Boz, Brandon Kids of all ages. That’s who have come through our doors for the past few months, to learn how to make custom decks the Roarockit way. Eager 8 year olds, former radical skater dads with tons of experience (and memories) from the old days, and everything in between come to the After School programs. It’s nice to see moms and dads with their flexible schedules, come in to work alongside their kids.
Brandon (in front) with a class of builders, ranging in age from 8 to, well, Dad.
Roarockit has trained some young bucks to do the teaching. The kids really look up to Michael and Brandon as they are active skaters, and have graduated from art college. They lead the builders through the steps of laminating, pressing, finishing and of course the design and painting.
Boz with 2 custom built decks to suit the small guys
Boz, (Michael Bozinovski) has been doing commissioned boards for a long time. Since joining us, he’s been making decks constantly in the down time between teaching classes. Every Boz deck is a new foam mold, a new trim shape, a different size, number of plies, and of course his graphics get better each time with new methods, including transfers.
Boz built a board especially for this 42” tall, 30 lb. competitor named William (he competes wearing those shoes!)
Brandon started with us as an assistant, and in a matter of one or two classes, became thoroughly capable to lead any building class. The custom long boards he builds are going to be killer rides as soon as the snow melts and he can test them street side. These two guys are soon going on a south Asian trip, any takers for their jobs while they’re gone?

Ted also hosts an Open Studio, where builders who already know their way around a Thin Air Press come to the workshop to work with him to create custom decks.

To have a non-traditional skateboard store is amazing. We think our deck building school could become the model for anyone looking to make a living involving skateboards. We don’t sell shoes or eyeware or trucks or stickers, we just pass along our knowledge and encourage builders to build decks. It’s a blast!
