Kowalski and Kramer:  Giant Slalom World Champions

Active Image

With dominant wins at Gotherburg, Germany's Dominik Kowalski and USA's Lynn Kramer are the 2008 World Champions of Giant Slalom!   In the Pro Class of racing, it was actually Henrik Wadsten that had led the field as they raced under sunny skies and through large crowds of cheering Swedes.  Kowalski, Pappas and other top Pros went into the last round and then it was Kowalski that put down a scorching run, almost two-tenths of a second under Wadsten's best to become the World Champion!  George Pappas was the USA's top finisher, in third on the podium, right next to Wadsten.  Great racing, that included perennial favorite Lynn Kramer doing typical double-duty: racing in the Pro Division and in the Women's brackets. Kramer's effort in Pro put her La Costa Boys Racing team at 22nd in the World on the Pro course.    Kowalski also won the Pro Division Special Slalom, clearly on his game!

It was in the Women's Division that Kramer repeated what you'd expect from a lady that rips all day, every day, in Pro class racing regardless of gender:  she led Ella Roggero from the UK and Germany's Kathrin Sehl to the podium with almost a full second lead over Roggero when it was all over!  American Cat Young, at her first Worlds as part of her amazing new slalom career, placed sixth in the final standings!
