Quantcast

Newsflash

Not all skate shirts are black!   Check out the Silverfish Gear Page .  There are new men's, women's and kids' shirts!  (Some are even black.)

We're using "spreadshirt", so you order straight from them.  Dig through the listings and you'll find some classic 'Fish designs, including shirts with art taken from member Ryan's art-pen drawings.  Have an idea for a shirt?  Send it in!

This is the kick off for the next Board Builder's Online Build Off Contest.

For those of you that are new to our little game here it is in a nut shell. This is a contest where you post pictures of a skateboard you built and we all vote on which we think is the best built board. Now by built I mean built. From the ground up. You press and shape your own board and then finish it. This is a great way for people to see how it's done and for builders to show off their skills.

We've been doing these for a few years now and they just keep getting better. The talent just keeps growing and improving. Many first time builders have entered these contests and later gone on to become real professional custom board builders. You never know. You could be the next superstar builder just waiting to be. So please feel free to try your hand at building and even enter a board. The Board Builder's Forum is one of the most informational places you could ever go to to find out all you need to know about building your own skateboards. So check it out.

Here are the rules and guidelines.

This time around there is no theme. No restrictions on size or shape or style or materials. Build what you like. Just as long as it's a real skateboard it's all good.

So here is what you need to know.

  • All entries must be built in the specified "build period" to be considered for the contest.
  • The Build Period for this contest is July 1-July 31.
  • There is no theme restrictions this time. Build what you like. The Karrot Klause still applies.
  • The Karrot Klause. Only serious entries only. I hold the right to refuse entry of any board I do not think is a legitimate entry.
  • Entries are to be submitted in the OFFICIAL Entry Thread that I will create come August 1.
  • You have until August 9 to get your entires posted up. August 10 the voting starts. No entries will be considered after the poll has been created.
  • Entries should consist of pictures of the entry board in various stages of the build and the finished product. That means show your work. Lets see it during the gluing process, in the press, coming out before finishing, the shaping process and the finished result both static and being ridden. The more pics the better.
  • August 10 the poll goes up and you have 7 days to get your vote in. Please base your vote on which board you thought was the best based on design, construction and building ability.

AS ALWAYS these contests are for fun. No promises of prizes or anything like that are made. This is for fun, bragging rights and the advancement of board building in general.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Let the building begin! It's GO Time! Get to it. Have Fun and play nice. AND when it's all over GO SKATE!
