It's been over a year in the making, and we've been hearing about it every time we see one of the crew at a race or snuggled in the bushes along the side of some secluded canyon road with a Hi-Def camera.  It's undergone months of editing, polishing and every other reason to drive skaters insane while we wait for Dan Pape and his gang to release Colabo's skatum opus, The Fellowship of the Bearing.  It's out!

 Fellowship of the Bearing

“...the first production of its kind

to take you into the lives of skaters that look at street hills as

their stomping grounds”

Colabo Innovations is proud to announce the release of the highly anticipated The Fellowship of the Bearing DVD project, filmed in HD. 13 months in the making, the FotB is set to bring longboard skating to the forefront of the action sports industry, while revolutionizing the quality of film in extreme sports.

The Film is a remarkable adventure into groundbreaking downhill skateboarding competitions that have, since their inception, defined new styles of extreme skateboarding. This film takes the viewers to top races and some of the world’s highest peaks with breakthrough footage from some of the hardest working and most recognized downhill skaters out there. Matched with acclaimed cinematograhers and skaters that know the ropes, the passion is obvious by the amount of heart that was dedicated to shooting.   “Our hope is the tech and smooth high speed skating will inspire skaters to try new types of skateboarding by seeing it done first hand by some of our industries best athletes”. Aside from the Colabo riders (Nathan Lang, Mike Mc Goldrick, Kevin Reimer, Max Erwin, Brianne Davies and Quinn Dubois) in the film, our journey took us well beyond our original goal to simply make a solid team video.

Riders like Scoot Smith, Mischo Erban, Tom Edstrand, Patrick Switzer, Brian Peck and others made the film simply by dominating on the racecourse (or rippin’ up their neighborhoods) with style and fierce sportsmanship.   Races across North America and Europe have grown from only a handful of riders, to organizers having to put a cap on entry just to get it done before the weekend ends. The Fellowship of the Bearing, is shot in full High Definition and is like no other film out there.  It’s the first production of its kind to take you into the lives of skaters that look at street hills as their stomping grounds. Rather than see intense “unskateable” roads as threats, longboarders have taken the initiative to show the world that hitting hills is an experience that’s worth giving a try. Addiction is inevitable.   Whether it is cruising with your bros near the beach, pre-drifting for switchbacks or blasting down hills at 60 mph, the Colabo Video is guaranteed to have you look at this rapidly growing sport in a unique and satisfying way.

The Colabo concept was created to eliminate the red tape and politics often found in an industry that has such a wide array of competing talented innovators. Action sport film projects are more often than not, constrained by sponsorship requirements and guidelines limiting which riders can work together, what locations will be shot and what products will be in the film. The Colabo crew sees no place for this in a sport driven by passion and pure stoke. The Colabo rider team is built from a core crew of established and up and coming talent, regardless of sponsor based affiliations. As far as the locations go, the scenery and cinematography will speak for itself.   Special thanks to Landyachtz, Bam|design, Calstreets, Silverfish Longboarding, Concrete Wave and Lid Technologies for believing in the project and sport from the beginning.  Your confidence in Colabo’s work is hugely appreciated and won’t be forgotten anytime soon.

Fans and casual observers deserve to see some of the world’s best riders, shot in some of the world’s best locations in HD Res Format.   Colabo Innovation’s The Fellowship of the Bearing delivers exactly that. It will entertain, it will stoke, and downright amaze but more importantly it will make you want to get involved and try this new era of skateboarding.

Special thanks to the Artists Featured in the Film
Closing Iris, Ghost Brothers, The Clips, Root Sellers, Ronald Jenkees, Titans, Bogueart Entertainment’s Illa Brown, DGenetics, Loose Tooth, 1 Man Band
