Silverfish Longboarding's new series of articles, entitled "Quivers", is all about the weapons of choice for skaters: our boards and gear. This time, we've got a 'Fishhead from Colorado, "GPymp" to bust out his pile of boards. We asked GPymp to tell us about each board, what they're all about and etc...
GPymp's Quiver. So, what have you got to show us, GPymp? I've got eight boards and parts for a few more. Is there a type or style of board you’ve focused on? Well, as you'll see, I like boards that turn a lot. I’ve got carving boards and a batch of slalom decks built out. Okay, show us what you’ve got! (Click through for more.)
Jim Z w/Crail’s and JimZ bushings. Seismic Red Vents. This board was a MHS late night special he has on occasion. I purchased it for 70.00 shipped! It has Crails, which are my favorite general carving truck (not a surprise). I like big soft wheels, so I also purchased the ‘Vents. It has Biltin bearings. The Subsonic/MHS Semi Custom Highland FPPE (Flying Purple People Eater). One of the first boards I purchased from MHS. It is by far one of my favorite boards. It’s fun, easy to push/cruise and it looks great. It has Crail trucks (Tracker bottom bushes and Khiro red on top) The wheels are obviously Pink Gumball’s (w/Biltins). These were one of the first batches MHS received. The board rides like a Caddy! The red Subsonic is also a MHS Semi Custom (MHS spec’s) Highland. It was originally a black stained board but my son got it wet riding it in every condition. I repainted it red. The trucks are Force R7’s. The wheels are Sector 9 GOS w/Biltins. I am a big fan of Subsonic boards. So, I purchased this red stained Lowland from MHS. My eldest son uses this board for quick trips because it fits in his school locker. (Not sure where his books went?) It has a PPS modified front RTX w/8mm axle. Rear is a standard 5.0 Bennett. Wheels are red Zig Zag’s w/Biltins. This is an Axe 1. I won this in an amateur slalom race here in ColoRADo! Front truck is a standard 4.3 Bennett. Rear truck is a 90mm Splitfire truck (one of 7 different Splitfire’s I currently own) Wheels are red Zig Zags. I use these wheels in my neighborhood because I often see glass or some sort of metal shards. Let them get tore up as opposed to the Retro Lime, Lemon or Orange racing Zig Zag wheels.
My newest board is a carbon fiber bottomed Pavel “Gang of Germany” board. The rumor has it that this board was used as a mold at “abc” for Pavel “wood” boards being made here in the U.S. The front truck is a G.O.G truck with special edition coloring. This board looks fast. Since I am still very new at slalom, this board (like most of my boards) will be for me to grow faster with…hopefully! The rear truck is another 90mm Splitfire. Wedging in case someone cares is: 2 10 degree Khiro wedges in the rear, 1 ten degree in the front with a 4 degree plastic Khiro wedge on top of that. The Axe 3 was purchased on the Silverfish from, I believe Gary Saenz. I got a great deal on it too! It’s signed by The 4 Star General Richy “Axe Army” Carrasco himself. The front truck is a 107mm Splitfire pro. The rear truck is a Tracker plated 107mm Splitfire standard. Lemon/Lime Zig Zag wheel combo with Rockin Ron bearings. The Skaterbuilt is a Limited Edition (white bottomed) Cone Killer. I also got this on the Silverfish Buy/Sell forums. If I remember correctly, I got this board from Chris Bara. This was also a great deal and is a great board. (Another board to grow with as I get better at slalom) Front and rear trucks are 90mm Splitfire’s with red Zig Zags. Bearings I think are also Biltins. G, of the pymped out boards. Extra, extra...: This is my Nirve Inferno. It’s great for cruising the ‘hood. It’s aluminum framed and rides great. Wheels: These are my better Zig Zags (and unwrapped Pink Gumball’s) and hula girl! There is also my 35 degree, 90mm Splitfire. This will be swapped out on my Axe 3 and the 107mm trucks on the Axe 3 will go on my FullBag GS board. Bushings. You can never have enough. (I think I have a bush fetish.) Do you have more than 5 boards? Have you got a closet full of rare boards, a speedboarder's quiver of uber-skates or an all-arounder's diverse catalog of well-used sticks? Take some photos and drop us a line! |
