The 2006 IGSA California Downhill Championship Series is six events, held on two separate courses within Frank G. Bonelli Park in San Dimas, California. The second race is Saturday, February 25th, on the "Raging Waters Course". If you're in SoCal, or even if you're not, come out to race or spectate some high-speed gravity sports! Can anyone stop Dave Rogers? Will Merkler repeat on skates? Can anyone catch John Rogers on luge?

The IGSA is very pleased to announce that G.F. Hurley Longboards will be the Downhill Skateboarding class sponsor providing a $250 cash purse along with three skateboards for the top three finishers. Garland Restoration is sponsoring the Gravity Bike division, with another $250 cash purse, and Abec 11 will be providing trophies and swag for the street luge class.

2006 will mark the second consecutive year that the IGSA has organized a series of gravity sports races in the Los Angeles suburb of San Dimas. High-speed Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge competitions will headline each event. Additional classes for Gravity Bike, Classic Luge, and Inline Skating will also featured. The California Downhill Series events are designed for gravity sports enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.

“We’re really happy to be returning to Bonelli Park for the second consecutive year, and this second race in the series should be a crowd-pleaser”, said IGSA President Marcus Rietema. "The racers are now used to the course again, and their blood is hot for competition. I expect to see even higher speeds in every class of racing” he added.

The Race Course for Event #2 will start on a steep incline for the first 100 ft, descending into a hard, eighty-five degree right-hander. After the corner, the road bends to the left and drops into a straightaway to a hard ninety-degree, right-hander followed by a short chute, then another ninety degree right-hander. Following the corner is a long, relatively flat straightaway, so exit speed is critical! At the end of the long straight is a final ninety-degree left hander, followed immediately by the finish line. Top speeds are in the 45 mph range.

From the freeway, go east on Via Verde / Raging Waters Drive and turn left at the first stop sign. Follow the road to the next stop sign, then bear to the right and proceed across the dam. You will pass the starting line on the left side but continue on to the next left. Turn left and go down the access road, past the finish line and into the pit area. Plenty of parking!

Each competitor’s best five finishes in the DH Series will count toward their final season points standing. Series Championship trophies will be awarded following the final event of the season.

The IGSA is an international sanctioning body for gravity racing sports, athletes and events, featuring a 7-race World Cup Championship Series for 2006.
