2008 Festival of Speed Update
and new Orangefiist Video! If you were anywhere near Goldendale, Washington, a computer or a decent skateboarding magazine in 2007, you know all about what went down at the Maryhill Festival of Speed. The endless freeriding on 28 newly paved curves over a nearly 3-mile course, hundreds of gravity racers, eating, camping, partying and enjoying live bands, killer local hospitality and perfect weather… if you know, then you’re already planning how you’re going to make it there in ’08.
This may be you in August! This year, the Maryhill Festival of Speed will be even larger, and we don’t mean just because of more skaters on the hill! There’s more racing, more coverage, more money on the podium, more music, more schwag… more, more, more! It all goes down August 27-31, 2008, in Goldendale, Washington. The IGSA World Championships will have $5,000.00 on the Downhill Skateboard podium, thanks to Abec 11, and the entire event will be covered and featured on NBC’s Jeep World of Adventure Sports in October!
If you don’t know about the Festival of Speed, find out! Our friends at Orangefiist (producers of the Livin’ Free movie) were there last year with their cameras and have just released a 15 minute, professionally made video to give you a glimpse at how it went down, and at what you’re going to see this year. You want more? We’ve got more, so click it.

You can stream it from Orangefiist's site in widescreen format, and there’s a link below for you to snag a free download from the ‘fish. Click to Jump for Video Stream! Here's a note from Marc McCrudden about this vid: I'm really excited to announce the release of a free video download of the 2007 IGSA Maryhill Festival of Speed. The video is 15 minutes long, so please be patient downloading as it is on the long side for a free web-video. 2007 was the first year I attended the Maryhill Festival, along with my wife and partner in Orangefiist, Christine, our son Tanner, and our friend Jason Clayton. We went to premiere our longboard film Livin Free: The Heart of Longboarding and to enjoy the event. Shooting video at Maryhill was something that John Ozman, the event promoter, and I had discussed so I brought my camera. This video is the result and we hope you enjoy it. Please support our efforts by purchasing a DVD copy of Livin Free: The Heart of Longboarding. A huge thanks to all the riders and sponsors who help make the IGSA Maryhill Festival of Speed possible and we look forward to seeing everyone in Goldendale in August! So, here comes August 27th and you gotta get your plans set! Buy your leathers, get your full-face, gloves, speedboard and stoke, because you’re gonna be blown away at the 2008 Maryhill Festival of Speed. The racecourse will be open for freerides with the massive lift trucks for 4 days before the IGSA Worlds, the amazing City of Goldendale has plans to welcome the gravity sports world back even bigger and better than last year and it’s gonna get crowded in the pits: in addition to NBC’s Jeep World of Adventure Sports video crew on site, we’ll have the Telemundo crew and crowds of spectators attracted by television and radio ads for the MFOS that will run the week before and of the event. John “Volcano” Ozman has been cranking on the even-larger event and it’s gonna be huge. Keep your eye on the ‘fish for registration information.
Kicking off the top. Abec 11 has already renewed its sponsorship of the Downhill Skateboard class of racing, and this makes for a guaranteed $5,000.00 on the DH podium! That money is in the back and will be handed out as cold, hard cash by John “The Banker” Ozman, just like last year. If you’re a sponsored racer, call your sponsor and let them know you need fresh leathers and some toothpaste before your interview with a big check in your hands!
