Newsflash

Pocket Pistol's B. "Chicken" Deck is all over the import industry's use of heat-transfer graphics to boards.  Sure, he's a silk-screen traditionalist (and one of the best), but there's more to this than just gripin':  heat breaks down epoxy and the boards get hot!

Of course, PPS makes all of Christian Hosoi's boards and you never met a better OG Skate God.  Click Chicken's graphic to leap over and check out the latest Hosoi boards, all silkscreened...

The fourth round of the2006 IGSA California Downhill Championship Series will be Saturday, April 15th, at Frank G. Bonelli Park in San Dimas, California. Come on out to watch great racing in all the gravity classes! The race will be on the "Raging Waters Course", used in Round Two. This is the last IGSA race before the big European Tour starts for the summer!

The Raging Waters Course features "Verizon's Mayhem Corners", a name we modifed from the official term after watching the action in Round Two. Featuring a set of hard, right-hand turns over a bumpy, dusty surface, this corner is the deal-maker for racers and an excellent place for spectators to gather and watch the action! The racers will blow by (and sometimes into) the haybales where spectators line the course. If you're in SoCal this weekend, come on out to watch some gravity sports!

Once again, we find ourselves asking whether anyone can stop the Rogers Bros Racing Team domination of DH and Luge. John Rogers won Rounds Two and Three at Bonelli in DH and has been alternating the top spot on the podium with Tyler Wendtland in StreetLuge. Judith Rogers is undefeated in Women's DH and Dave Rogers took Round One in the DH. Right in the mix, Jimmy Flindt, Rick Kludy and Danny Connor have been chasing closely in the A-Mains.

Don't forget the Inliners, Classic Luge and Gravity Bikes! Merkler and Focke will be back, likely to face a full field of inline skaters ready to sprint the final stretch after Mayhem Corners...and looking for revenge on Dave Rogers and Rick Kludy in another "Inliner v. Skateboard Showdown", after Rogers' win in Round 3 racing. Tyler Wendtland remains deadly in the Classic Luge & Street Luge divisions, and we'll see a crew of the Junior Class racers tearing down the course, too. The Gravity Bikes will be fun to watch as they navigate Mayhem Corners in tight formation, banging elbows and looking for that perfect line for speed to the finish.

The Race Course for Event #2 will be extended at the top, before reaching a steep incline for another 100 ft, descending into a hard, eighty-five degree right-hander. After the corner, the road bends to the left and drops into a straightaway to a hard ninety-degree, right-hander followed by a short chute, then another ninety degree right-hander. Following the corner is a long, relatively flat straightaway, so exit speed is critical! At the end of the long straight is a final ninety-degree left hander, followed immediately by the finish line. Top speeds are in the 45 mph range.

To get There: Use the directions found on the IGSA site, linked below, or just get yourself to I-10 and the 57. One Exit north of I-10 on the 57 is the well-marked exit for "Raging Waters" and Bonelli Regional Park. From the freeway, go east on Via Verde / Raging Waters Drive and turn left at the first stop sign (before the kiosk). Follow the road to the next stop sign, then bear to the right and proceed across the dam. You will pass the starting line on the left side but continue on to the next left. Turn left and go down the access road, past the finish line and into the pit area. Plenty of free parking!
