'Its been quite a few months, a few technical hitches, a lot of late nights
and some serious time spent in front of a monitor...but STOKE VIDEO MAGAZINE
is back: bigger and better than ever! It's the effort of three guys from
the South West of England who have been riding longboards for 4 years, just
because they love it. They went through all the stages of longboard
progression, from straight-lining hills in T-shirts and shorts (a lot of
bleeding involved in the early days), through learning to carve, then sliding
and now a bit of everything. Since the begining they have been capturing
with lenses the little slices of what makes longboarding so awesome and the
lifestyle that's associated with it - skating, traveling and meeting new
people.
"We currently have reports from Dorset, Portsmouth, Wales and Plymouth, as
well as UK skaters stamping their mark in Barcelona, Brazil and Wales .
Our roving team member Nick Channon is on a round-the-world trip, armed with a
slide board and gloves. Who knows what crazy footage we're going to get next!
WWW.STOKE.TK gives a snapshot of the UK scene, with regular updates in the form
of photos, articles, scene reports, session reports and video clips. We don't
just go skating to shoot videos and take photos - skateboarding takes
priority when the stoke is high and everyone is pushing it. It's only once
one of us is skated out, injured or amped to capture a piece of the
atmosphere that the cameras come out. This seems to be a theme that runs
through the website and the entire approach. At the end of the day,
skateboarding is unbelievably fun and nothing beats traveling somewhere new,
meeting a bunch of like minded people and skating amazing hills. Whether it's
a trip to Barcelona, the French Alps or just a trip down the highway, you
cant beat it...and this is what Stoke Video Magazine aims to be all about.
We hope to get people amped to get out there and skate! Check out the site,
grab your board and go and assault some hills. If you've got something to
say or some pictures/videos of your local crew having an awesome session,
get in touch. The UK longboarding scene is staring down the barrel of a
loaded summer. Be ready for the trigger to go off!!!"
