Newsflash

Not all skate shirts are black!   Check out the Silverfish Gear Page .  There are new men's, women's and kids' shirts!  (Some are even black.)

We're using "spreadshirt", so you order straight from them.  Dig through the listings and you'll find some classic 'Fish designs, including shirts with art taken from member Ryan's art-pen drawings.  Check back for new designs, as we prepare to release the Fall Line (soon as Armani signs off...)

FOR A NEW TYPE OF SKATEBOARD CONSTRUCTION

FROM ROAROCKIT

BETA BOARD CONTEST. Roarockit is looking for five testers to test their new and innovative deck building construction called "Continuous Layer" CL for short. The purpose of the Beta Board Contest is to test, refine and ultimately create a vastly different type of deck. Roarockit is reaching out to riders of varied riding styles to ride, assess and then perfect this technology. Hosted by: Concrete Wave Magazine, DS Boardsports, BOZ Boards, Silverfishlongboarding and Roarockit Skateboard Company.

How it Works:

To be a Beta Board tester, post 3 to 4 paragraphs describing the reason why you want be a CL board tester and the particular type of deck your riding style suits. Along with the essay, a maximum 90-second video must be included to show your skill level in your discipline to determine which style of board you want to test.  Unedited camera phone video's will work fine. (video must be posted from Google Video or Youtube). We'd like to include all forms of skateboard disciplines, from street to slalom and everything in between.

Google Video        YouTube           Post Video's and essays

The 5 winners will be selected from the postings by a panel of judges from CW, Silverfish, DS Boardsports, Roarockit, plus an unbiased person.

Each contest winner will receive a custom made Roarockit CL deck built for their particular discipline to ride, test, and to keep. Brian from DS Boardsport, Michael from BOZ Boards and Ted from Roarockit will be the deckbuilders.

Decks are to be ridden and tested over a one-month period, using your own hardware. After which, each tester will submit their assessment in 3 or more paragraphs with pics, in the submission thread.

At the end of the testing period a random draw will award one of the 5 testers with a Carbon-Gold CL deck built to incorporate the tester's refinements from their assessment of their deck!

Why are we doing this?

By opening this contest to you, the world’s community of riders, it does not limit testing and involvement to any internal, geographic, or professional status.

Roarockit’s interest is to take ownership of a new method of making a laminated skateboard deck and to share this with the skateboard community.

And finally, to create an article in CW Magazine with interesting and inspiring reading about something new in the skateboard world. The article will provide insights into the design, building, testing and refining of a new technology and it’s resultant product, (good or bad!) by involving the builders, testers and critics from a diverse group of skateboard riders.

Contest Dates:

Contest is open now, deadline for entering your submission is midnight Aug, 31st, 2008

The 5 BETA BOARD contest winners will be announced Sept, 5th, 2008

Don't miss this chance! Be part of custom deck-making history!
