In November, our roving ‘fish reporter spied and rode the Rogers Brothers’ new aluminum speedboards and we reported on them and our interview with Dave Rogers. At the time, Dave said, “be patient”. He wouldn’t offer them to the public until he had enough in stock, and in final form. Well, Mr. Rogers has been busy, and he’s ready to set you up with speedboards, all-new minis and a board rack that will have you drooling! Click through to see the new stuff...
THE ROGERS BROTHERS SPEEDBOARDS: the speedboards are done, they’re ready for retail sale, and are anodized in deep, clean colors. We’ve ridden Dave’s personal board, ogled the comprehensive kit with every option that Chris Chaput bought, and snagged some new photos for you. The boards are stamped, cut and formed from plate aluminum in two different thicknesses (according to your weight or desired flex characteristics), then anodized in several colors. Check out the orange one we’ve got here, and see some other color samples down below. The speedboards use a modular system for the ends. The Rogers Bros. produce board-ends with different levels and angles of drop, and they’re designed to accept truck mounting from above or below. The ends are firmly attached with a bombproof-looking set of hardware, and Rogers Bros. also produce “shims” that match the dimensions of the ends, for additional tuning for ride height. How much are the decks? Well, the first run, without colorful anodizing, are $200.00 –but there are only a few left. The anodized decks are 3/16" board $240.00 for the 3/16” deck and $250 for the ¼” deck. If you want a 10-degree wedged nose, that’s another $10 bucks. All the decks come with mounting hardware, truck drop spacers, board drop spacers, and a killer, laser-cut drop-thru cover plate with a Rogers Bros. logo. THE MINI BOARDS AND THE RACK: Okay, so the kids in Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood wanted decks they could take to school, stow in a backpack, or stash in a locker. Dave Rogers wanted some killer-looking retro decks. Judith Rogers wanted Dave to get his boards off the garage floor. The result of all this is a set of neat little mini’s and a brilliantly-simple board rack. The mini-boards are 7&7/8” wide x 29 & 5/8” long with 20" inner hole wheelbases, and come as completes with grip tape, Invader 800 trucks, clear, 65mm, 78a cruiser wheels and sealed Pleasure Tools bearings. Dave told us, “I was surprised and stoked on how great this setup performs under these decks!” In these photos, you’ll see a couple of the decks (the orange and purple) that were ridden in the amateur slalom races at the PumpStation Outlaw, but they’re really intended just as cruisers. These custom rigs are $140 each, complete, or $70 per deck. They’ve got a firm, smooth flex to them, and look great. The rack is so simple, so light and so smart that we wanted to distract Dave and swipe it. It’s stamped, smoothed and brushed aluminum, with vinyl beading on any exposed surface that would contact a deck. They will free-stand, but are intended to be wall mounted. Typically, Dave thinks about things: the mounting-bolt holes are 16" in center -- exactly the same as the studs in your walls if your home is in the US and was built in the last 40 years. DR actually has one of these racks that’s 8’ tall in his garage! Hey, the guy’s got a lot of boards… The “slot” for decks is large and deep enough to accommodate larger boards, and easily swallowed the Speedboard, too. These are $40.00 each.
