200mph Longboards?
As of Oct. 15th Alex Luxat, owner of wefunkSkateboards, joins the composite layup team of Toyota Motorsports GmbH. He is working then on the chassis for the 2008 F1 car. The skateboard production is on hold for indeterminate time.

wefunkSkateboards was founded 2003 and is based in Cologne, Germany. It is solely operated by Alex Luxat, intl. awarded product designer and skateboarder since 1982. As one of the most exclusive skateboard brands wefunk transfers ski- and snowboard-technology onto the roads. Most notably the bonecores -- a triple torsion box construction vacuumed around a wood/foam/carbon hybridcore. The Speedbone was "ispo brandnew award" finalist in 2006 and is still a benchmark in composite racing deck construction.

Ab dem 15. October arbeitet Alex Luxat, Eigentümer von wefunkSkateboards, im Composite Layup Team der Toyota Motorsport GmbH. Er arbeitet dann am Chassis für den 2008er F1 Rennwagen. Die Skateboard Produktion is dann auf unbestimmte Zeit eingestellt.
"Das ist ein großer Schritt in meinem Leben und eine unglaubliche Chance. Das bedeutet aber nicht das endgültige Aus für wefunk, sondern die einmalige Gelegenheit mehr über Composite Design und Konstruktion zu lernen, als ich mir je erträumt habe."
wefunkSkateboards wurde 2003 gegründet mit Sitz in Köln. Alex Luxat, international ausgezeichneter Produktdesigner und Skater seit 1982, leitet den Ein-Mann-Betrieb. Als eine der exklusivsten Skateboardmarken transferiert wefunk Ski- und Snowboard-Technologie auf die Straße. Am erwähnenswertesten die Bonecores -- ein dreifach Torsionsbox Aufbau um einen Holz/Schaum/Carbon Misch-Kern vakuumiert. Der Speedbone wurde 2006 "ispo brandnew award" Finalist und ist nachwievor ein Maßstab im Bau von Composite Downhill Skateboards. |
