Not all skate shirts are black!   Check out the Silverfish Gear Page .  There are new men's, women's and kids' shirts!  (Some are even black.)

We're using "spreadshirt", so you order straight from them.  Dig through the listings and you'll find some classic 'Fish designs, including shirts with art taken from member Ryan's art-pen drawings.  Check back for new designs, as we prepare to release the Fall Line (soon as Armani signs off...)

Longboarding in Britain PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 22 January 2003

I live in the seaside town of scarborough, and in england alot of longboarders have come to longboarding through surfing. so this is not uncommon. Its pretty obvious that i cannot cover all the longboarding in britain, but there is nothing wrong with trying.

I think, like all of you, that longboarding is great, i think that it transends the other extreme sports because it is actually in a weird way a thing of pure soul, very much like surfing.

In britain this is not lost, longboarding here maintains ties to the sea and to the city, mabey iam saying tis because i live in a seaside town and always ride under the seagulls. [not that they crap on me though] It seems to me that the majority of longboarders live near the sea also as opposed to using it to get around in urban enviroments.

Scarborough is a beutifull place to skate, even the skatepark is situated withing 350 meters of the sea, and from anywhere on it you can see the whole coastline.

Most boards here are hand made, or are made by companies who produce the boards by hand, just take lushlongboards.com and creationlongboards.co.uk for example. longboards are produced on a pretty small scale here, and longboarders are a very elite class, i cant walk down a street with my pintail being glared at scowled at or shouted at by all manners of people, which is nice.

Longboarding in Britain is pretty sweet, despite the crappy weather. But over here there is barely any media support save the extreme sport channel, which only shows longboarding once in a blue moon. But like it is all over the world, longboarding is a brother hood thing, last time i met another longboarder on the street, we stopped to talk, as opposed to street skaters who dont bother.

If you come to england with your quiver, try to get to a seaside town, with their long promenades and coastal downhills, but i wouldnt bother if you want to skate anything super gnarly like mile long downhills, because i dont know of any. if there is any britains who do, or live in scarborough and wanna skate please post a comment.
