Longboarding in Panama, Central America, still a young sport OR lifestyle as some might say, the first longboarders started appearing on the country hills maybe some 10 years ago, carving, down every hill they could find on their path. In the last couple of years there has being a global boom regarding longboarding, and Panama has also taken part on this popularity, skateshops are know carrying products specifically for longboarding, downhill OR sliding as much as regular skateboarding equipment.

In the last 3 OR 4 years, riders have dedicated time to travel around the country to find new routes, longer and  faster roads to fulfill the need to progress.  While you are able to see longboard cruisers just pushing their way on sidewalks OR flat roads doing cross steps OR old school moves as we call them, technical sliding is very advanced, crews of skaters gather  almost everyday to session their favorite spots, some of them are the Panama Canal Administration Building, 666, Supernova and Plaza Edison.

Also out of the city you can find long mountain roads such as Cerro Azul, Carriazo, El Valle, La Colorada, Chame, Boquete and several other, which are sessioned mostly during the weekends due to the long distance of this places, but you will be able to find long stretches of  “freshly paved roads”, full of curves good for  speed sessions OR fast slides.

Contest and unplanned “get togethers” with BBQ´s  included are common, providing a day full of activity with the longboarding family, local shops hand out prices to the best tricks, slides or carves to keep the energy up and every one happy.

Longboarding is growing in our small country, almost every day you can see or get the chance to ride with new boarders.
