Trojan Gloves Slide Gloves

No Glove, No Love

Trojan_Slide_Gloves_06.jpg

More and more it’s becoming apparent that safety is not just an element of keeping yourself from bleeding but it is now also an element of performance and style. A necessity that should hold up to the expectations of our skating, the Madrid Trojan slide glove with the venom slide puck is built to be as durable as you are dedicated.

The glove is available in two varieties leather and synthetic and our riders checked out the synthetic version; they put the gloves down for some slides to see what the extensive and skilled downhill team at Madrid had come up with.

Orangatang's new Moronga Wheels

Reviewed

moronga16_exposure.jpg

Orangatang's new Moronga wheel is here for your downhill sliding fancy. Orangatang has dubbed this wheel a "high speed freeride gem". It gives ample rolling momentum with i's size and surgical slide control with the 'Euphorethane' mixture. Loaded's fantastical product introduction alludes to the filling of your appetite for steeze that this meaty wheel will surely bring to your next freeride banquet. We here at the Longboard Consortium were ready for our full plate of Moronga wheel testing, so we took them out for sessions along the California coast.  The weather was good, the crew was merciless, the skating was fun.  When everyone got back, we put together our thoughts...

Don’t Trip Trippins CNC Trucks

First Impressions

dtripCNC.jpg

Not so long ago, if you were on the prowl for some precision skate gear, options were fairly limited. This was the time when Kahalanis were all the rage, Maguns were unicorns (albeit retarded ones due to their mounting requirements), and people still knew what Randal Comp II’s were.

Fast forward to 2013 and it seems like a new precision truck mfg. is popping up every other month or so. That’s pretty awesome if you ask us, but we have noticed somewhat of an “imbalance” in the ratio of precision RKP (reverse kingping) vs TKP (traditional) truck options on the market. With this being said, the recent release of Dont Trip Trippins (currently priced at a savory $99!) tips the scales and evens out the playing field a tad bit.

Demystifying the

Loaded Chubby Unicorn

loaded_chubby_unicorn_5.jpg

When we heard the news of the release of the Loaded Chubby Unicorn, just like you, we were very excited. The word of mouth and online info about it really mystified the deck in a way very fitting to the name. Not only that, but Loaded did a very good job of building anticipation to the Chubby’s arrival - much earlier than it would be available, even to us. The unique, yet understated shape, which we could only see in pictures, combined with those blue rails really had our curiosity going.

The solution, for Silverfish Longboarding, was to get our hands and feet on one of these exclusive, new and frankly expensive decks and put it through the Longboard Consortium's paces.  We started with the Chubby Unicorn as a complete, gave it a thorough visual once-over with the cameras and then took it out on the roads.  It's been kicked across town, bombed hills, used to lay long slides and few standies, carved canyon roads at speed and loaned around for multiple views.  We checked it out, came up with some opinions and then, after all that, we read all the "professional words" developed about the deck by Loaded...and discovered we pretty much agree the Chubby Unicorn is indeed one of those elusive, pure beasts of legend.  Our review follows...

The Road Rider Railgun

Road_Rider_Railgun_09.jpg

Road Rider has a presence in the market even with years of minimal activity in the core longboarding market they are known. The idea that they would put together a longboard that could stand up to the name recognition was intriguing. Their initial board release, the Road Rider Railgun was the first step towards the company moving into a solid position manufacturing not just wheels and trucks but quality purpose-built decks, as well.

Soon afterAgenda 2012, we got our hands on a railgun and have had it underfoot for quite some time. As the Rail Gun had its commercial release recently, we decided to finish putting the board to the pavement and start getting our riders feedback on the railgun, is it going to be a cornerstone to a well-known companies growing board collection? Read on to find out.
