Paired with the C-7 trucks, this is a pumping, carving, slashing machine!

This little board handles like its namesake, fast and loose. The short wheelbase makes this mini the easiest board to pump, effortlessly carving non-stop lines without ever putting your foot down. The snappy handling and perpetual motion turns your driveway and curb cut into a micro-skatepark.

You watch all these amazing videos of these amazing skaters skating amazing locations. Pumped and ready to roll, you head outside with your souped up carving/freeride board in hand only to be hit with the hard reality that where you are, the pebble at the end of your driveway is the closest thing to a hill. Is it time to give up on skating?

Your driveway is a flat, awkwardly shaped piece of asphalt. The neighborhood roads are next to inhospitable for a decent skate. After rolling and stopping ever few seconds because the asphalt strip is so small, that 46" board doesn't seem like such a practical idea anymore, does it?

It's a rainy day and you're bummed because your slide setup is in ruins because you forgot to clean and lube your bearings after the last rainy slide session. What options do you have left?

I don't know if you've ever had to confront anything close to the above situations, but regardless, it's always a bummer to feel limited by your environment. The Carver C7 Fish is an incredible little board that rides bigger than it looks. Find a flat parking lot, and you'll be able to go from being completely stopped to pumping effortlessly around without having to set your foot down for anything other than stopping. This thing really surfs right out of the box. The deck itself is stiff (which is what you want with the C7s) but has a really nice concave and just the right amount of nose and tail.

The ride does get some taking used to, but within five minutes, you'll get the feel. If you've tried over and over again to get that pumping motion right and failed, the C7s will change your notion of what trucks can do for you. Granted the pump motion is different, but it's quite intuitive after you've tried out the board.

Now keep in mind that it's a mini, and mini's are not meant to be taken to ridiculous speeds. You'll have incredible maneuverability and really feel like your surfing the pavement, but if your aspirations are to hit that 10 mile bike trail and pump through the whole thing, you're dreaming. For that, you'll need a dedicated pumping board. The Carver Fish will make skating in that unfinished basement or bottom floor of that parking garage or the inside of a suburban home's garage ... any flat surface feel like a wonderful skate environment. Your world will suddenly feel bigger!

It is definitely possible to try and tackle hills with this board; you'll be able to carve out the hill if need be. However, there are over 20 parts to this truck, and if something breaks, you'll have to talk to Carver about getting replacements. In other words, after riding this board a bit, you'll understand what it was designed for and ride it within its limitations. If you just enjoy the ride of skating and are limited by your terrain, this board will have a welcome place in your quiver.
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: August 2007
What is your setup like?: Stock from the Carver eBay store (which I'm not sure if exists anymore) with their C7 trucks, Carver bearings and 65mm wheels, risers, and hardware.
Typical Session Discipline: For this board: flats.
How much did you pay?: ~$165 if I remember correctly.
Where did you purchase it?: Carver eBay store.
What were the strengths of the deck.: + Nice and beefy (wide) under the feet.
+ Solid construction
+ Simple, very attractive graphic (to me)
+ Ultra portable (good for a mini skate at those rest stops and gas stations)

What were the weaknesses?: - Only new school mounts, but if you're getting them with the C7s, it's not an issue
- Not much else with the deck itself (see review for info about the complete)

Would you recommend it?: Yes

Now that I have used Carver C7 trucks on a few boards, my sets of Randals, indys, Trackers and even Holeys are collecting dust...
I have bought alot of diferent setups looking for something I couldn't describe...I have found it with this board and setup.
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: Almost every day since December 25th 2007
What is your setup like?: It is the factory setup with the C7 trucks, abec 7 bearings(which I swaped out with Swiss Labrynths)and Carver 65mm 78a center set wheels.
Typical Session Discipline: Concrete Park(Arlington VA) Basement ramps, nice hills, Garages, and a ditch when lucky
How much did you pay?: $189.99
Where did you purchase it?: http://store.valueweb.com/servlet/carver/Detail?no=6
What were the strengths of the deck.: Carving like nothing else...pretty sure I can make it carve in a sub 5 foot circle...the C7s are actually stable enough for hills and not an issue dropping in(I had my doubts at first). No joke, after you carve down a hill, if you are fit enough, you and pump right back up...I have gotten to the point now that I can skate about 1/4 mile without putting a foot down.
What were the weaknesses?: um, it has a shorter wheelbase then I normaly skate, I prefer a 19-22 inch wheelbase...
I have hit a few grinds, without issues, but I can see the front truck pivoting at maybe an inopertune moment.

Similar decks you have ridden?: I have the same set up on a Gravity LB33 and love it...I have placed the same set up on my Gravity BE40 and loved it and am sceeming another set of C7 trucks for it.
Would you recommend it?: Yes
