The Grenade23 is the newest development in the 2007 line-up. A high end, top performance mini-cruiser that packs a massive payload. This board was designed to attack the urban jungle and thats exactly what it does. The Grenade23 is small enough to fit in a backpack, quick enough to bomb through crowded crosswalks and explosive enough to shred alleys, sidewalks and corporate courtyards effortlessly.

The Grenade23 is the smallest board in the current Flexdex spread, however this young blood rides like a board twice its size. With a massive wheel base of 17.5" to its 23" frame, the Grenade23 is extremely stable and able to carry 40 times its own body weight. Duked out with 8" High Response Unit Trucks, 1/2" Vibra Soft risers, 61mm x 78a Urethane Center-Core-cast Flexdex wheels with a stone-grind finished contact patch and ABEC5 racing bearings, the Grenade23 like a hummingbird on steroids.

I was playing with the idea of a combination GROM and CAMPUS board last year. Students need a board that rides well, but fits in their locker or under the lecture hall chair. Groms need a flexdex that's their size. Both need a price that fits the budget without settling for crappy hardware and wheels. Behold - the Grenade! Only 23" long, but it rides like the old Classic 29. It's fast and fun. I keep one at the warehouse door to skate back to production and check on the worker bees...

Its called the Grenade 23 because its always ready to explode. Explode it does: the mini board stance places the skater's feet over the trucks, generating a high level of grip in all situations. With this over-truck stance, the Grenade's highly flexible design becomes more than capable of carrying larger riders.

The board holds the concrete with surgical precision, allowing highly accurate pumping and on-a-dime carving. The explosive nature of this propulsion is felt as the skateboard accelerates with every gyration.

The deck itself allows for enough room for a drop knee and compressed stance, yet keeps a chokehold on the street below -- drifting only when truly desired by rider. Slashing out on banks or laying scalpel clean laybacks, the little Grenade remains underfoot.

The unassuming size of the deck makes it a premiere choice for busy day sidewalk surfing and cutting lines in tight alleys and park paths. The Grenade 23 is the epitome of an all-around campus and errand cruiser. An easy-to-stash deck, that travels with you and needs little more than a locker or a backpack to lie in wait, whispering nothing more than its genuine desire to return underfoot and explode, yet again, in the urban tundra.

its an awesome board, its made by flexdex, so it wont break, and just get the right setup for yourself, and rip it up, AMAZING FOR BOWLS
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: 2 weeks
What is your setup like?: Deck, gullwing sidewinder trucks, abec 11 grippins

(customized setup)

Typical Session Discipline: carving, cruzing
How much did you pay?: 200
Where did you purchase it?: deck at flexdex.com, everything else at thelongboardstore.com
What were the strengths of the deck.: amazing durability, bend it any way you want, no breaking, good response, great for stowing and riding whenever
What were the weaknesses?: little splinters of the side of the deck, might be pretty cool with a kicktail
Similar decks you have ridden?: none, too awesome of a board
Would you recommend it?: Yes

Really a fun board once you get the set up going on it, I will probably change out the wheels to a 66mm Retro for a bit of a softer ride. Proper set-up is the key to making this board fun. I set it up with my own trucks it might be a bit different with the trucks FlexDex includes. This is my first board of this size and it definately will help with learning how to pump and getting ready for snowboard season
Longboard Review
How long have you ridden the board: About a week now
What is your setup like?: Randall II's 150mm, soft 1/8" riser pads, 62mm Pink-Dots wheels (not sure on durometer but it rides hard), Bones Reds Bearings
Typical Session Discipline: cruising, carving, boardwalk riding, tipping around traffic and pedestrians
How much did you pay?: for the deck - 55 bucks
Where did you purchase it?: muirsurf.com - talk to Scott, tell him Brad referred you
What were the strengths of the deck.: So far its carving ability has been great, I did have to swap out the factory Randall bushings for Khiro Yellows (closest to deck) and Khiro Reds (closest to king pin bolt). After getting the trucks set up the way I liked it it was alot more manueverable.
What were the weaknesses?: I think the wheels I have set up on it are a bit hard- if you have not ridden a smaller board it takes a bit of getting use to - Im 6 foot 2ish 170 LBS so a taller person can easily mis-step the board when foot pumping
Similar decks you have ridden?: I have ridden the Gravity Mini V-lam that a buddy of mine has, along with an even smaller home made deck that is like something right out of the 60's this board fits right in the middle of the 2
Would you recommend it?: Yes
