Outlaw Racing in the News:  Pasadena City College's newspaper covered the rampage on Dump Road.  It's a pretty good article and worth checking out.

Seismic introduces revolutionary skateboard urethane formula!

Active Image

Boulder, Colorado - Seismic Skate Systems, a 15-year-old Boulder-based manufacturer of high-performance boards, wheels and trucks, is pleased to introduce wheels poured with a revolutionary new urethane compound, code named "Black Ops".

"It's a racer's dream, the perfect combination of grip, speed, and super rebound with no compromises," said Seismic Wheels Team Member and 2003 World Slalom Champion Kenny Mollica.

According to Team Member Gary Fluitt, the 2004 World Slalom Champion and 2007 World Slalom Champion Runner-Up, "the new formula has a surprising combination of grip and rebound like I've never felt before. These grip so well that I run out of road before I can get them to slide. The roll feels superior, too."

[GFH has come a long way from their earliest roots of seal skin boards. With their position as a big boy tugging on capes they were kind enough to toss us a bone with a PR about one of their newest boards, its origin and a deeper look at the deck.]

It has been a while since GFH Boards has sent in a board to the good people of the Fish, but we have been busy with fillings for carbon credits and pushing the bio fuel GFH ghetto rig around town. But we figured it was about time to give everyone a little taste of a new direction we are taking with GFH Boards.

[We ran into these guys at ASR, liked the look of their boards and were intrigued with the idea of building boards from reclaimed material, they were kind enough to send us a killer write-up about themselves, their company and their boards.]

Jeff Smith and I had our passion for skateboarding rejuvenated the summer of 2002. I was raised on the west coast in the “Dog Town” era of skating, Jeff, here in Colorado. In the spring of 03 Jeff made our first vertically laminated hardwood deck. We had been riding a variety of ply, mass production boards that suited our purpose but had no real esthetic value. Jeff’s was a beautiful board, reminiscent of the surfing longboards of old. But as time would reveal and with the help of Rob McKendry, we discovered that solid hardwood decks can crack. Not willing to give up, we searched for ways to resolve this issue.

Four Tonnes of Maple and a Cup of Tea. PDF Print E-mail

Why the new Faltown 4.2 Freeride is our
most sustainable skateboard to date.

We always try our best with our skateboards when it comes to the subject of sustainability and feel it’s our duty to consider environmental impact when designing and producing new stuff. Our other decks, like many other responsible brands, come from sustainable forestry and are made in the same country the wood is felled. So when we caught wind of a company that had recently gone bust was about to scrap nearly four tonnes of maple, we drove in with our ‘eco-police’ sirens wailing, to see if we could stop or at least, reduce the size of the looming giant skateboard bonfire. We took some samples from the warehouse and promptly sat down back at the office with a cup of tea with local skateboard guru Dom Lilly and went about coming up with ideas on what we could do. What we had to work with was essentially a skateboard but was originally to be mounted on top of a snow ski, had no truck holes and was 15mm thick instead of 12mm  so was to weighty to be chucking it around any parks or bowls.
