We are proud to announce the launch of our company and our flagship board “The Waverly”!

Gallagher Longboards was started in 2005 with just a couple of guys who shared the same passion for longboarding.  We were dissatisfied with many of the boards on the market, so we started making our own.   The first boards were, for lack of a better word, “ok”.   Of course, trial and error prevailed.  We finally started making boards that were “rideable”.  Then, we started making boards that we actually enjoyed riding. ! That is when things started to take off.   We started listing our garage-made boards on ebay and the response we received was overwhelming.  We sold over a hundred garage-made boards over the course of 2006.  To us, this was a great success.

We're always looking for innovation and stoke and, if you know where to look, there's a lot of it to be found.  Recently, we came across Beach Rider Designs, located in San Diego and the brainchild of Dave Riess.  We asked him, "what's the deal?" and got ourselves a quick interview.  Check it out.

I grew up in northern California and spent most of my time riding downhill bikes with a bit of dual slalom and urban assault thrown in.  I had always skated a little, but through high school I was mostly a bike freak.  I was 18 when I moved to San Diego in '04 and couldn't afford to keep my bikes so I sold them and started longboarding a bit.  I started to get hooked on longboarding and long story short, I began to think about building some wheels for myself in spring of '05.  I built the first prototype wheels in my tiny apartment in La Jolla that summer and after people started asking about my wheels I began investigating how to manufacture them.  At the time I had extensive machining experience from back home, but I really only knew how to make one-off parts.  After two and a half years of learning manufacturing the hard way, the Ace was finally born.

Gecko's first release from their new “Superlight Series” is the Martin Drayton Slalom Limited Edition (The Gecko S.L.E.).

Gecko Releases Their New Uber Board

Raising the Bar for Board Design.

 Active Image

The board was publicly previewed in its pre-production form at the Cadwell Race in the UK in early February.  Notwithstanding the freezing temperatures,  the Gecko was thoroughly checked out and incredibly well received, many calling it 'the best-looking slalom board they had ever seen' and 'potentially the board of 2008'. The comments we received by those who rode the Demo boards the following day were nothing but complementary, the majority of them resulting in firm orders.

It will officially be launched in its production version at the World Indoor Champs in Gothenburg, Sweden on the 24th February 2008 where it will also be available for demo and purchase.  For more information and photos, click through.
