Which is industry alive and "interested in SKATING?" Obviously not the skateboard industry but the clothing industry. Who gives a ####.

Once again you prove yourself to be a clueless idiot who confuses the rag trade with skateboarding. Fvck off. And all the "pro" skaters can fvck off too. I looked at a recent issue of Thrasher I don't even know who 90% of them are. Just a bunch of artsy-fartsy photos selling t-shirts.

"The media and product they produce" serves no purpose whatsoever connected to my skateboarding and the whole fake lifestyle clothing industry can just dry up and blow away which it looks to be doing in the present recession anyway.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I don't really understand the hatred of soft goods companies. Skate videos are basically extended commercials for clothes and shoes; but who cares if the skating is rad and it's filmed well? Someone's got to model clothes and shoes for teenage boys. Why not skateboarders?

You have got to be THE most upset person I've seen over the internet, ever.

I can't really understand a lot of what you type because it's all mixed up with rage and anger.

(and bad gramar <-- LOL get it)

Just because YOU don't know who certain people are in a magazine, or just because YOU aren't connected to certain people who push skateboarding forward in a positive manner doesn't make it this swear word or that and totally wrong.

I am not going to waste any more of my time trying to prove a point here... I'll stick with conversing things with rational people.

I'll pass on these. Lately it seems like everyone is jumping on the skate shoe bandwaggon to make a quick buck. Whats next Sketchers or Doc Martin?

Personally, I'd rather have a shoe endorsed by some random kid who totally sucks at skateboarding, but tries really hard. THAT's the guy who's gonna know if a shoe is durable.

Also, while I agree that the vast majority of softgoods are irrelevant to skateboarding and arguably polluting the sport, I think shoes are the exception. To me, they're barely softgoods at all... what shoes I'm wearing affects my riding more than what bearings I've got, that's for sure. That being the case, I'm happy more companies are getting into the market... that means more variety, and more importantly, more cheap knock-offs for me to buy

Lutzka reppin' the fo one fo ya dig?

Seriously though, before he went pro he went pro he was a very dedicated skater and was clearly riding for the love of the sport not to get signed or to become famous. In his case he just got lucky and made bank, now i have no clue if he is a douche or what, but i hear he is an uber prick nowadays.

Btw, my favorite part of the video is 4:00 where he grabs the shoe, smooshes it around and then nods his head like this is the best shoe ever.

Oh wow, how cool is this? We got our own pro skater designing a shoe for us and he can choose the pattern and style and everything. Isn't life wonderful? But before this shoe goes into production it has to pass our hardest test: THE ACCOUNTANTS!!
A company that claims itself that it is a 'however'million dollar business won't put out a skateshoe that is superior to everything else because in the end the only thing they wanna do is make profit. And basically how do you make profit when selling a product? You either use cheap materials to keep the end product cheap as chips thus resulting in a shoe that is shredded to smitherines within one month or you incorporate the more expensive materials and production into the price and have a shoe that is ridiculously expensive for a skateshoe- but hey, it has the K-swiss logo, so people (hopefully not just skaters) will buy it anyway and if the material keeps up that much longer is questionable. Usually it's a combination of both: cheap to standard materials and an extra buck just for the brand so they can go überglobally- if only martians would buy their shoes, then they would be übergalactic!!!

End rant

the one thing that I always think about when it comes to skate shoes vs. skateboards is the following:

100% of the people who buy skateboards will use the skateboards to skate....(except for collectors) the same can't be said for skate shoes...

Or basketball shoes, or running shoes, or soccer shoes, or dancing shoes, or combat boots, or...

So what? I wore a polo shirt (designed for tennis) every day for about eighteen months because they were comfortable, functional, and stylish. American fashion has always been heavily influenced by sportswear. Skate shoes tend to be both really freaking comfortable and at least somewhat stylish. I'd wear 'em even if I didn't skate.

You have no point because you confuse the rag trade with skateboarding. Those people you yearn to hob nob your road to riches with are as dumb and irrelevant to skateboarding as some dumb baseball player selling shaving cream or a superannuated supermodel selling lipstick are.

Ads for clothes don't push skateboarding forward in a positive manner. Regular skaters skating are what skateboarding is.

Clueless twits like yourself that think skateboarding is all about hyping clothes with celebrities are idiots.

PS - as for your Ms. Grundy grammar police scolding, as if nitpicking my typing and editing errors has a prayer of a chance of putting a mental midget such as yourself on anywhere near my intellectual plane, why don't you just get bent.

EC: What's so offensive about clothing companies paying skateboarders to endorse their products? Talented skateboarders getting flown all over the world to get photographed riding radical terrain pushes skateboarding forward in a positive manner. Who cares if skinny jeans are paying for it?

Because it doesn't push skateboarding forward in a positive manner, it just sells rags mostly to non-skaters! Corporate skinny jeans sales revenue does absolutely nothing for me in terms of financing my skate trips. Finding new places to skate with your friends is what pushes skateboarding forward (or backwards if you are getting old like me. ) I loathe the mass commercialization of skating and surfing and wish it would go away.

BTW, if my family photo albums are any indication, I've been wearing "polo" shirts almost every day (when I didn't have to wear a tie) for almost 60 years which should prove to you that they aren't fashionable at all!

What's the point of making that "obvious" statement when it isn't any different than what all the other skate shoe companies are doing? DC, Etnies, Globe, Vans, etc all have their "own pro skater designing a shoe for us and he can choose the pattern and style and everything. Isn't life wonderful? But before this shoe goes into production it has to pass our hardest test: THE ACCOUNTANTS!!" K-Swiss isn't doing anything different than what the majority of the skate shoe industry is doing, with the exception of being an "outside" company entering the skate market instead of being founded specifically as a skate specific company (of course, Vans also did the same thing)...

Quote:
A company that claims itself that it is a 'however'million dollar business won't put out a skateshoe that is superior to everything else because in the end the only thing they wanna do is make profit.
Nearly all businesses want to make a profit. Sometimes the best way to do that isn't to cut labor/material costs to the bone, but to make a really good, if not better, product. K-Swiss has already proven in their other new markets that they can make an affordable shoe that works as good as, if not better, than what's already out there...

Let's think about what you're saying for a moment. Should we abolish the Red Sox and the Yankees because it detracts from little league?

The commercialization of skating and surfing will never go away. Dudes like Sheckler and Slutzka will get their money. What can you do? Just skate and do what you do. With the commercialization of skateboarding, there are more skateparks out there than when I first started skating. so there is a bit of good to come from the "evil".
