i think someone local should make a board called the cuthill pretty appropriate.
it looks like the video is speeded up - good old media spin.
truth is getting all up in the traffic is never going to go down well, i guess being respectful and hoping to meet some locals with a good vibe is the way to go.

Isn't this true for most sprts? If you buy a motorcycle, dirtbike, etc. no is making you wear anything to protect yourself. Except for a brain bucket, but like those are gunna do much if you get hit by a car.
I guess you just have to look at both sides of it. It is obviously a distraction to drivers, and dudes shouldn't be bombing that hill with that many cars on it. Of course it is fun, but you pose a risk to more than just yourself. That is where I draw the line. I don't want someone swerving out of the way and crashing because I was longboarding past them. I would love to ride that road, but I don't think it would be responsible to do it in those conditions. Just my 2c.

they should pay attention to the road rather than the traffic going by at normal speeds in the correct lane.
Question: would anyone complain if they were riding bikes?

WOW, I hope that first new station doesn't win any awards for journalism.
Lead in "No regard for public safety" I didn't see any evidence that they were endangering others lifes.
"locals say it is only a matter of time before someone is killed" Eh? so some random local is an expert?
Cut to a voice over "And [local] residence are furious."
So just who are these locals... "we showed oblivious locals" So some reported went in search of some sound bytes. Couldn't find any locals that knew what was going on, so had to show the video... Some up roar.
One local says "I wouldn't want to be driving the opposite way and have one slide in front of me" You know NONE of us would want to be driving the opposite way and have ANYTHING slide in front of me... and yet it happens, even with cars.
Later one guy falls toward the inside of the turn and gets up, but apparently he is "skiding towards an oncoming car"
"Here another narrowly misses a car while doing a uturn in the street" All we see is a video pass a car. (ohhh the CAR was doing a uturn in FRONT of the skateboarder (or whoever is filming))
"Even passing trucks get a wave" As the truck goes uphill and the skateboards go downhill... staying in their lane.
These journalists need to go back to school and learn how to cover a story correctly.
Too bad there isn't a law against bad journalism. Journalism like this borders on slanderous.
it definetely is dangerous, and a bit different than biking. Bikes have really good brakes, and unless your a pro boarder sliding to stop isnt always an option. That being said, your probably going the same speed as most cars, so if they're in their own lane it shouldnt even be a problem.
do we know the boarders in the vid? or do we know any riders in the area? i know if i lived there i'd be pulling people together and doing walk-ups on the news station demanding a counter story. if the journos in the neighborhood are stupid enough to run a story like this i'm sure they'd love to run something along the lines of "skater's strike back". maybe this time they could get something that actually makes sense.
it's like that discovery channel special a while back. "when the rider turns to make all four of his wheels slide... this is called sliding, because it's kind of like sliding". stupid ####### network junkies...
get the word out, aussie riders! don't let them do you like the hutu's did the tutsi's!
