It's good when you can put some of yourself in your work.

However i've gone thru a couple of subcultures getting popular and it ain't always a good thing or bringer of cheap gear. I guess sometimes it's better to either be totally underground or so completely oversaturated that it's common place and no one cares or says 'boo' that your doing it cause everyone is.

However I wil admit that I do get jazzed when I see longboarding in ads. So far it's been pretty low key and tastful. It's the stereotypes that get old or when it's a gimmick. "This scene is missing something. Put that guy on a longboard! Perfect! Now this shot looks hip."
