ceiling height is a major concern. In the 78 we built a 4 1/2 foot tall one-hit with pool coping and tile. went right to vert. It backed up to a cement wall/ledge, that gave us a pre-made deck where we could sit and measure grinds and how close to "serious" edgers we were getting. We had 8mm videos and pics, but they are all gone and lost now.
skating completely indoors was a blast. dodging poles and stuff. loose boards that crashed thru doors or walls. loud stereos with nugent playing. patching holes before parents found out, etc etc. nothing like it. those were some fun times.

we have a local crew that built this thing in the basement. they used the lowest park of the basement to create a wedge-to-wallride. the pics are weird, but there is one wedge [the white one] that is built on the "deck". you hit the wedge, then across some flat, then down another wedge into the wallride.
the "start" ramp:

I had a 30" half that I built in a friends basement when I was 15. It was a fun ramp, and I built it so that when you would grind the coping your head was in between the floor joists. We padded the joists with thick yellow rollcage padding in the very likely event you would hit your head. I also built a removable wallride section that made it 6' high with 3'6" of vert. Lots of fun was had on that mini, and the weather was always the same.
If you Build It, they will come!
You wont be able to get rid of Nick all winter!!!
Never had a ramp, but I did have a biketrials course in the basement of the one place we lived in!

I haven't done a basement ramp in years. My friend Richard had the sweetest garage ramp. Hip, spine, corner and wall ride and hump. Very fun. I miss that ramp. Makes me wish I had a garage or basement.
