Re: Hubba Wheels = Porno for children? Or A Great Marketing Idea?
those ads are bad from a graphic design standpoint. The pictures are bad and the editing is terrible. It looks like they put them together with MSpaint. I also think those girls are almost 90% positive for some sort of STD. call me gay but those girls would only give me a 58a duro boner
PS: the slogans are aweful too. Did they just use that sloganizer thing online?

Different hub designs and whatnot. It's just for a different market and different kind of skating. Have you ever seen the wheels? Or even bothered to look at their website? And trust me, they know skateboard wheels like the back of their hand. The guy running the company these days probably had wheels and trucks in his crib.
You can assume that if it'll make for a funnier jab at something you don't understand, but you'd be way off the mark.
Speaking of Porno for Children, does this ad ring a bell?
Yep, Hubba was one of Fausto's companies. I can't think of anyone further from the rap-star with wheels than a Fausto operation. He was totally dedicated and hands-on in every step of the process on all of his products, from design, to marketing, and of course they manufactured nearlly all of them themselves: Indy, thunder and venture trucks; think, real, anti-hero, krooked, etc. decks; spitfire and Hubba wheels and wheels for many other brands as well over the years; they even did some of their own softgoods and did their own silkscreening (they might still since the shirts are made in usa and retail for $12 at their shop so they might still screen here in town); and of course they published their own magazines Thrasher, Slap, Juxtapoz.
Has some stuff been outsourced these days? Yes. And I'd be surprised if the wheels are still made here in town. But I think the Vitello family has paid enough dues in the skateboard industry, and produced enough successful products, to not have cheap shots taken at their current products by guys who have no understanding of the market and type of skateboarding they are intended for.

"Pet Rocks". Aren't those Bob Guccione's new wheels? I hear he's got a great distribution system all worked out.
Dear Concrete Wave,
I recently had an experience I couldn't believe and I want all your readers to know about. I found the perfect rail, so long and hard and smooth... I pushed my board with its turgid, rock-hard wheels, flicking the tiny beads in the bearings 'round and 'round until resistance was gone and I leapt upward onto the rail, sliding for hours and hours in a perfect arc of sweat and steel. Exhausted, I leaned back in the glow of my glistening Pet wheels and savored the musky scent of victory. name witheld by request

whatever, it's the way things are these days. skin skin skin .... $ $ $
if your gonna take your company in that direction, then stick to your guns and
give every product a porn-ish name. might as well. this is the same as people
naming their products after drugs, or pot "references".
