There were several things that cummulatively made 2006 the best YEAR ever.
- Escaped from a security guard in a parking garage in Vegas
- Skated a 13 mile downhill in the Talkeetna Mountains in Alaska
- Came out of a 28 year retirement and started racing slalom again
MOST OF ALL - I met some of the greatest people in the world at the slalom contests I went to.
Went to and entered 2 slalom contests-Luna and Red Clay. Making it down Trade St. in one piece. I rediscovered the sheer joy of curb skating, slappin' rocks to fackie on a red curb. Meeting people from all over at slalom contests, who gave me encouragement-Texas Eddy, Byrddog, Cliff, the list could go on for days. Getting more folks hooked on slalom here in alabam.
Best ad you saw in CW?
Not sure. The best article though was definitely Mofo as someone said before.
Best new skate product?
Reflex Gumballs, Superballs, Soon the Kahalani trucks will be out and I'll snag a pair.
Best thread on the Fish?
There were a bunch of really interesting ones. I liked the one with the Fyre trucks, really cool diagrams and explanations on how they worked.
Best session?
NJ Convoy. I met a bunch of crazy people, skated a bunch, and had an awesome time.

Texas Cold Fussion Sizzler got injured shortly after but made a triumphant return 12 weeks after knee at DHB that was one of the coolest contest saw the usual suspects, got to hang with Joe I, Rob, Jason, Dom, Heiko, Carl aka Mr Surly,FatBoy, Utah Trish,Laura such a cool family of skaters. Best CW ad? I don't know, but I like how they aren't the main focus of the mag like, oh, every other skate and surf mag around.
Best New product? Ugh, I don't have a clue, I don't have money for the latest and greatest. But I will give a shout-out to Julien from Chicago Longboards. When we first met him on the Fish, we were greeted with some hardwood cruisers and some mins. Now we have all sorts of boards including some sick speedboards, wood and composite.
Best session: Tie between the 2nd SoFla session and my trip to Clairmont with FunkyPhreakout, I hate Cops, Hyzershot, Dubester, and tsmith (even though I was scared shitless 90% of the time.)
Best add - no idea...maybe the one where there was no add just a spoit saved. That made me howl.
best new product - WEFUNK - if you haven't been on one you wont understand. They are far and away the best made deck in the world. Second would be the arrival FINALLY of the BEAR trucks.and 3rd would be the rise of EARTHWING.
Best session for me would be either the Brooklyn Banks with the earthwing crew and Adam Colton or a Garage session last winter in Toronto when I first meet the Ontariolongboarding.com guys.
