I thought this brought up a good point...

Transworld Skateboarding vs Transworld Biz
I'm having a hard time figuring out Transword's angle in this debate, as there seems to be some inconsistency between a brief article titled "Ditching Class with the Heavies" in the April 2007 issue of Transworld Skateboarding Magazine (written by Carleton Curtis, managing editor of TWS) and the "Under Fire" suppliment that was "brought to you by the IASC" and "Produced in Conjunction with Transworld Business Skate Surf Snow [and] Transworld Skateboarding".

Here's where I see the problem... in Transworld Skateboarding's article, Carleton describes a grouping of skateboarding's heaviest hitters having a session at Skip's Ditch:

"Once the shredding began, skateboarding became pure again. Here was a crew of sixteen skate titans ripping together just for fun, without a care of financial gain or media documentation."

There's no mention at all that the session at Skip's Ditch also acted as a backdrop for a photoshoot for Transworld & the IASC's Under Fire publication (a publication that regular non-industry-affiliated skateboarders weren't meant to see).

I don't expect Transworld to have the same journalistic standards as the New York Times or other "real" news sources, but I can't help but feel that there's an attempt at bullshitting skateboarders here. Is Transworld talking out of both sides of its mouth? What purpose did the TWS article serve?

Why are skateboarders being shown things in one light, while the skateshops are being shown things in another?

just went to their site(IASC),ethan white has a photo on the front page sliding.look at the member list,what comany on that list(if any )manufacture slide gloves,slide wheels,etc.its pretty basic,how about not spending a couple hundred grand on a pro salary and invest it in grass roots skating or developing new products.all the best stuff these days is being developed by people who are certainly not getting rich off of skateboarding.these dudes need some perspective.i am sick of their"let them eat cake"attitude.time to storm the castle.cfav
