I received this today..I know it's about snowboards, but there was a Bitch Skateboards and there's Bitch Bushings. Is this another way to reclaim the word BITCH? Is this word still offensive anymore? Is this company just going in for shock? Is Rocco going to sue? Would you ride a Bitch snowboard? What about Bastard? Would you ride a Bastard Skateboard? How about Bastard trucks or wheels?
WHY BITCH?
That’s the question that innovative Southern California snowboard designer, Alex Masterson, is answering with her new company, BitchBoards.
San Diego, CA – February 22nd, 2007 – Why Bitch? Snowboarding is a predominately male dominated sport that tends to ignore the female demand for fashionable designer products. Alex Masterson and BitchBoards are satisfying this niche, or the so-called ‘Bitch Niche’. According to Masterson, “Women want fashion on the slopes as well as performance. We design for women and only women.”
‘Style, Design and Performance’ is the three-word mantra for the company. By taking an artistic approach to the design, a BitchBoards snowboard is not just a board, but also a work of art. The use of modern and abstract photography, such as green smoke swirling in the air or smeared paint on a white palette, for the graphics immediately separates BitchBoards from the competition. This level of photography and aesthetic brings a collector’s value to the board. One customer had decided to purchase a second BitchBoards snowboard to be used solely as wall décor for her bedroom.
But for those who use their BitchBoards snowboards for riding, they can rest assured that each board manufactured in Southern California is constructed with the highest quality materials. Fully-equipped with all the amenities of the most exclusive men’s snowboards, including carbon fiber, full aspen wood core and rubber sidewalls, each BitchBoards snowboard is shaped specifically for a woman’s height, weight and lower center of gravity. Masterson explains, “Women are built differently and need a snowboard that reflects these differences; a snowboard that is truly built for a woman in both performance and style.” This is the ‘BitchNiche’.
The 2007 Signature Series by Alex Masterson snowboard line exemplifies this blending of technology with fashion while giving women a choice in a variety of sizes and colors for their own individual expression. personally, i think it's ridiculous. the word has been over-used for 15-20 years, it got hyped up through hip-hop [not all hip-hop] and has kept a steady pace ever since the late 80's. did this designer coin the term "bitch - niche" to turn a profit .. who knows? raising 2 daughters has opened my eyes up to why alot of people are offended by the word being used to describe something other than it's intended definition. i'm no saint, and i cuss like a pirate when i'm not around the kids. but i don't have a use for the word, unless i stub a toe....."son of a .....!!"
to address the other question, if Fatboy made a "Bastard" model, i'd ride it everywhere!!
and if it sold as a complete .... it would be called a _________ _________.
In order to produce high quality, fruit driven, food friendly wines, winemaker Thierry Boudinand sources grapes from several vineyards throughout the Languedoc region of Southern France. Thierry’s long standing relationship with the growers in the region has ensured consistently excellent quality for each Fat bastard varietal, vintage after vintage. By selectively choosing vineyards, Thierry is able to take advantage of the different terroir characteristics and blend a wine that is more harmonious and elegant than if he were restricted to a narrow district. Thierry confines his selections to vineyards within the districts of Gard, Hérault, and Aude. Within the Gard district the Fat bastard vineyards are located along the Rhone River. In this area you will find low yielding hillside vineyards with clay and limestone soil. The climate tends to be hot but is moderated by the strong winds coming from the north, called Mistral. The results are very ripe fruit character wines with lots of aromas and big, round flavors on the palate.
In the Hérault the sandy soils are deeper and yields are always a bit higher compared to anywhere else. In this region the wines have really pure varietal character, are well balanced with a lot of fruit and white flower character, like acacia, for the Chardonnay.
In the Haute Valley de L'Aude, the altitude is higher and the climate much cooler. The various influences from the ocean, the Mediterranean, and from the Pyrenees Mountains create more of a late ripening area. As a result, wines from this region are crisper, fresh, with higher acid, with less alcohol, and more mineral characters.
By combining the best characteristics of the vineyards throughout the region Thierry Boudinand is able to craft the outstanding quality and consistent Fat bastard wines that millions of people have enjoyed around the world.
the claimed construction of those boards places them firmly as US made not the usually china spec that new companies have. the graffic process and core/sidewall construction look nice. I only know one company here in the states that builds like that I wonder if it's them
