I was thinking, skateboarding is full of different brands and companies, different styles and attitudes. But, who really is beneficial to the sport and should stay in business? what comapnies do you give your support to ?
I would have to say that a couple big companies impress me with their support to people, one of them is Volcom, sure they market lots of fashion that doesnt relly do much to your skating but they support artists and athletes and put out lots of demos and videos. Also they have the LTKSF "let the kids skate free" program.
Krooked is a way smaller brand but they have a new "retro" attitude thats trying to bring back the oldschool variety and fun to skating.
In the longboard world theres Gravity, Earthwing, S9 is improving, Bennett was awesome supporting the build-off. The list goes on..
I think that The Custom Longboard industry is taking off. so Longboard larry, Wefunk, Subsonic. Then the Big companys: Gravity, Eathwing, rayne, Vans... I try to support these when ever i can.

My former Vans skatepark is now a bowling alley. When the city of Westminster found out that Vans was building a skatepark, they took the $300K that was ear-marked for a skatepark and spent it elsewhere. Then when Vans closed, the city was left w/o a skatepark for quite some time.
Needless to say, I refuse to buy or wear anything that has the Vans or Pro-Tec label.
KebbeK for contributing so much to the DH scene.
Sec 9 for just letting the sport grow so much.
Earthwing for manufacturing really, really nice products and reasonable prices.
All the custom guys, LBL, Subsonic, CLB, WeFunk.
Independant and Tracker for being big truck companies that manufacture budget high quality trucks, but still make them in America. Earthwing, Seismic, Abec 11, Loaded, and Insect for putting out amazing quality products made in the US. Bennett trucks for staying true and making great stuff.
I think it would be easier to make a list of least worthy companies...

Did you really just describe Earthwing as a "big company," in the same sentence as Vans? Wow.
Wooow.
I suggest you send either MikeD or Brian a PM and ask them how they enjoy living in big mansions and spending all their money on Hennessey.
ok, well i guess they are not really a big company, diddent really think about it. I guess they have just grow so much in the last year that, to me, they seemed to be a pretty big part in longboarding.
vans skatepark was awsome here and they still have it but its called modern skate and surf now...it has a nice bowl and huge pipes...indoor/outdoor, i like my vans high tops
i like originial and gravity they both put out very wellmade excelent products
