My grandfather won one of the first Schwinn Stingrays released in California in a contest in 1963. He taught me how to ride on it.



All down hill from there.

The early ones are worth a fortune now - would like to still have it.

Brian, did they call this style bike a "dragster" in the US? Or is that the Aussie Name.

Yeah looks a lot like you worldwide.

The newspaper clipping is from Melbourne. Trust Australian journos to over-inflate a story. People were still drinking and driving in those days.

A buddy of mine has a stingray with a steering rear wheel as well, death machine but fun!

Mine was Candy Apple Red, I was able to ride a wheelie around the CVHS track 4 times (one mile) with no problem. I almost bought a re-make of it.
