Default Bono to buy Skateboarder + entire Primedia Enthusiast group?

Still haven't found what he's looking for?
perhaps...

In the name of love...what is the world of magazines coming too?

Hey Bono! You want CW??? Name your price!

March 30, 2007 -- THE auction for Primedia's enthusiast magazines is heating up.

Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers are handling the divestment for Henry Kravis, the Kohlberg Kravis Roberts boss who controls the majority of the stock in Primedia.
The company - a diverse publication package that includes everything from Motor Trend and Automobile to Horse & Rider and Surfer plus the auto.com site - hasn't given Kravis much to smile about recently, but the big auction now underway could get him to crack a smile.
Industry observers think that the group, which had revenue of about $530 million in 2006 and cash flow of $103 million, will probably fetch more than $1 billion.
Veronis Suhler Stevenson, which yesterday led a $1.14 billion buyout of trade publisher Advanstar, is still in the hunt. (For more on the Advanstar deal, see page 38.)
Veronis is teaming up with Tom Buesse, who most recently was running the Time4Media titles that Time Inc. just sold, and Russell Denson, who was unsuccessful in his bid to buy the Time4 titles.
To help handle some of the financing, Veronis is said to be talking to another deep pocketed investment firm, Leonard Green & Partners.
U2 front man Bono is also said to be taking a look through the investment company Elevation Partners, where he is teamed up with Roger McNamee and others.
The Bono team is looking at the move as a potential Internet play, in much the same way they pumped an estimated $300 million into Forbes Inc. for a 40 percent stake.
That deal was seen primarily as a way to tap into the thriving Forbes.com Web site.
Lazard boss Bruce Wasserstein, who expects to reap more than $600 million when his U.S. Equity Partners sells off the American Lawyer Media Group, is also said to be interested.
Boston Ventures, which had been backing ex- Time Inc. executive Jack Haire, was said to have looked at the assets but is believed to have dropped out of the running. Quadrangle, which is led by Steve Rattner and Peter Ezersky, is looking at Primedia at the same time the firm looks at the Dennis Publishing titles Maxim, Stuff and Blender. They're teaming up with industry veteran Kent Brownridge</I>
