PROVO -- Longboarders are joining together to fight a ban on skateboarding on Utah County trails.
Last week the Utah County Commission voted unanimously to ban longboarding on county trails. The law goes into effect Aug. 10, unless the commission can reach a compromise with skate and longboarders.
Several longboarders have banded together, calling themselves Longboarders Unite.
They say they hope to fight the ban with a calm, reasoned approach.
They hope to increase awareness and admit there are problems with some boarders that need to be addressed but their sport as a whole shouldn't be banned.
A public meeting with commissioners about longboarding is scheduled for Aug. 29.
