I ran across this article in skurfboards.com , a New Zealand longboard site.

Five Reasons Why Skateboards Stink and Longboards Rock

I didn’t ever think I would have to justify why longboards are hot and skateboards are not. But after over hearing some schmuck talking schmack talk about longboards, I felt like it was my duty to prove a point.

1. Speed: Longboards make skateboards look like a fat kid who recently rolled their ankle.

2. Cruise: Skateboards don’t cruise they rattle. Ninjas would use longboards as an accessory, they are so quiet and smooth.

3. Skateboards are for the little kiddies: Longboards are a classic, I don’t think you can ever be too old for a longboard they suit everyone.

4. Flow: Longboards make concrete turn into snow or waves. Skateboards are a one stop trick shop.

5. Which do the ladies like better: Would they prefer a small, slow guy that jumps all the time. OR would they prefer a long, smooth, fast, cruisy guy? Enough said!

Uhh. Classic? Not really. The flat baltic-birch s9 pintail is the closest thing to a classic longboard and those are a bit out of fashion these days.

i really dont get why people dont do all kinds of skating. so then it causes this stereotype of what a longboarder is and what a skateboarder is. if you are a well rounded skater then you should be enjoying all the types of skating. i also must say that park skating is fast and smooth and flowy, like snowboarding.

anyway. im just sick of this long vs short crap. and when you insult a shortboarder, then you are insulting half the people on this forum

Well, I saw little flow, but it was good. And I've seen planty of flow in parks so I take your point.

there's some division in attitude between short and long. Though it's not consistent.
Also I don't think of my boards as long.

I think they're the right shape for (insert discipline)...



I will say however that I'm one of those people who will occasionally rag out on 'kickflippers'
but it's 99% return fire. 1% spite.

I recently bought a "shortboard" for use in the local indoor skate park and `m having a blast using it, it has improved my balance and technique a lot, wich will improve my skating on the longer boards.

Skateboards, short or long rocks.

I can't skate short boards but that's just because I'm old and have too much time on boards with a WB longer than 20"...my latest park/pool board is a Gravity PS35 which works fine for me. I've seen lots of flow in the park, it's just usually in guys older than age 13

Skateboarding period rules. Even though I don't street skate as much as i used to its still fun to do every once and a while and its a good skill to know how to ollie. Also, theres nothing like watching some street skaters that have great style.

i love shortboarding and longboarding but im sticking with longboarding because im more of a cruiser type of guy. shortboarding trashed my body and i never really got the hang of flip tricks, theres no trick that ####ed me up as many times as a simple kickflip . also have a bad knee. longboarding seems like the obvious choice.
