Skateboarders really are public enemy #1

Man, I've been flipped the bird, cussed out, and threatened to be hit by a car more in the last month or two I've started skating everywhere I go than my entire life. People really hate people who skaters. I've heard so much #### lately it makes you realize just how ignorant some people are. Just today I've heard "Use the sidewalk dipshit" "Little pussy skateboarder" "Better get outta here or I'll run your ass over" "You little bitch, you better get out of the ####### street". I'm not using the sidewalk because I've already gotten a ticket because apparently its illegal to to skate on the sidewalk.

I'm not even doing stupid stuff in the street. I'm simply riding and practicing my pumping.
And to any asshole drivers that may read this remember, pedestrians always have the right of way so go ahead, hit me.

Actually, depending on where you live, pedestrians may only have the right of way if they are at a crosswalk or are given right of way by traffic control devices (walk/don't walk signs) or traffic controllers like cops or crossing guards. In any event, there are a lot of crazies out there. One guy yelled at my friend for skating on a "shared trail" which has pictures of cyclists and rollerbladers on it. He had the balls to yell it from his car, too.

I hate when people refuse to pass you or whatever when you wave them by.

My favorite thing to do is to hit on them...homophobia tends to make them leave fast...

I live in Fairfax County Va...kinda liberal...and I always dress in Hawaiian shirts or Tie dye, and a Hawaiian Print helmet...(I wore black for 20 years, and needed a change)

That or walk in the oposite spirit, just smile and wave, I know with most folks that seems to work well, they are mean to you, you in turn are nice...it throws them off...

thats hilarious... generally hitting on other men who are clearly not gay gets them to leave pretty quick...

hitting on someone is the best defuser.... i need to remember to use that more often... i honestly get more people yelling possative things... drives my wife craze, she always knows when im skating home cause very often a car full of highschool girls yell just as im about to my house its pretty funny...

though you did say you are practicing your pumping... maybe you gotta work on your technique, some peoples pumping looks really goofy

in all reality, just keep a smile on your face and wave and people will chill... we have nuns wave and say high to us on one of our fav hills. its pretty rad how cool people are when you are so stoked with a huge smile that they can feel your stoke just driving by...

i learned this from louis pilloni... he makes everyone around him stoked, skating or not or evem just driving by cause you can feel how good of a time he is having.

its the rule of predators, they never attack something that might beable to hurt them.

I heard a story from some of the guys in the Calgary Skate crew. One night they were bombing the roads and the police told em they couldn't ride in the streets. So the went on the sidewalk for a little. About 20 minutes later they were told they couldn't skate on the sidewalk.

But usually for me, I stay smart when I see cops, but most of the general public are pretty cool with skating. I get smiles from inside the cars. Of course there are the occasional honks and angry drivers, but you can't live without a few.

One time I was carving a local road on my dingy and someone stopped at the bottom and just yelled, "About 40 kilometers an hour! " And I just gave em a thumbs up. It was pretty sweet.
