If you are shopping AT kickfilipper retail outlets you might be. Otherwise (see Wells' link) most of us who longboard dont have trouble.

Me: Do you have any griptape wider than 8.5?
Sales 'Droid: They don't make boards wider than 8.5".

Daddies Board Shop has a pretty big variety of grip tape, I have ordered from them a few times and they always seem to ship pretty fast, I just ordered grip tape from them and re-did my deck. It's hard to beat the free shipping too.

the longboard store has 11" wide. You order it by the foot so length isn't a problem.

When shopping local, yes I do. Most the local shops only cater to "short" board skaters. It's all precut grip. I use the sideways method and it works fine.

I have found that shops that still cater to the old school crowd (park, ramp, pool and longboarders) tend to carry the rolls of griptape. I know that Wooster still makes the roll griptape in wider sizes.

The place thatI go sells tape off the roll. They charge the same for any length, but it isn't wide enough so I cut it in half and leave a strip down the middle that I fill with scraps.

The MHS link would be nice if he shipped to Canada.

We stock 8.5" / 10" and 11" wide tape - - by the roll (max length for your long board would be 60 feet).

So the answer is - no - I am not having trouble finding wider tape.
