If you're looking for any kind of approval from anyone by doing some activity, whether it's skateboarding or karate or writing or whatever, you're probably doing it for the wrong reason. Just go out and have fun and do things for yourself because you want to do them. If anyone has a problem with that, that's something they've gotta deal with.
The moment you start trying to define what you are, or start worrying about who's a poser and who isn't, you ####### blew it and are missing the point. And if you're bummed that someone else thinks you're lame, you're missing the point, too.
