There really is no reason to hate him.
It's the American way to find something wrong with everything.
Sure he's TV show is waaayyy to mellow dramatic and stupid but hey..
..If i was offered ton's of money from every direction ensuring the well being of my family in the present and future, I'll tattoo my name on my face.

Hate whoever you want I say. Much of the skateboarding community here don't like him for a variety of reasons or a combination thereof. Many of the comps Ryan enters, and wins, are not filled with the kind of skaters who would give him real competition. Just recently his toughest competitor was a 14 year old boy. Ryans not nearly as technically strong, trick-wise, as many other pro skaters. No one's saying he can't skate. But he's had a really, really good agent who works his butt off to get Ryan endorsement deals which,of course, tend to put him in the public eye more than some other skaters who can wipe him up on any street course. Again, that's not to say Ryan's competely skill less. He can go really big sometimes. He can surprise occasionally. But he tends to be averse to trying super technical tricks that take great timing and skill to pull off.
He made his rep worse when the TV show came out because he does an awful lot of whining and crying in between his announcements of his goals to become as big and rich as he possibly can. This gives the skate community the vibe he's not really interested in skateboarding so much as being a celebrity.
Maybe that helps you understand, maybe not. But if you want more information as to the sincere disgust a lot of skaters feel about him stateside, you'd be better off asking on more street oriented forums than a longboarding one

my first time seeing him skate i was impressed with the fact that he Flowed when everyone else was skating a ping pong line or 1 hit lines...last time I saw him skate he had adopted that same ping pong line style that everyone he beat skated...I like Flow over teck though flowing tech is better yet

Sheckler is the new Muska.

I don't like Ryan Sheckler because he's a whiny baby on his tv show and he's completely sold out. I usually avoid the term sold out because everyone needs money but you can make money and not sell-out. I'm pretty sure Geoff Rowley skates for a living (correct if I'm wrong) and I don't think he sold out. A local band near me got something like 8 record offers (legitimate offers not like bobs basement recording) and turned them down until they got total freedom to do what they wanted, design all there own cover art, and have total power over the final outcome of the album. If they cared about money they would of taken the first offer, you can make money and not sell out, it's just a slipper slope.
Oh yeah the headphones are lame, sheckler edition my a$$
If selling out means getting paid to do something you love who would not do it???
If you were getting paid to do what you love, and someone offered you a TV show because you kick so much ass at skateboarding what would you do???
One day kid's your gonna have to get a job, insurance and a place to live.
Then everyday when you get home from working for someone else all day long your going to wish that you had "Sold Out".
But unfortunately there is a total of about 50 people who use this site, that may ever make huge money off skateboarding.
As lame as Sheckler's TV is.
Just remember:
1. He skates better than you
2. Is a millonaire
3. "Sold Out" to have a good life...
