I almost bought it. I worked in a bookstore for years and as far as covers go, I think its pretty good and will sell. Concrete Wave distracted me and I ended up with that instead.
I glanced at the article and thought it basically boiled down to this, Sheckler is better at making money than his peers and better at skating as well.

Who cares. I don't admire him, think he looks like a fruitcake and wouldn't skate his board, but he's making money and I don't blame him for that. If you honestly say you wouldn't sell out with that kind of money on the line you're either lying or stupid. The kid will retire when he is young and invest those funds never having to work if he has any sense.
There are still plenty of hardcore skaters out there, support the ones you like, give up the hate.

Seriously, Sheckler is just one of those skaters who's gonna be famous until he's replaced my the new "hip and cool" skater. He can perform and do the tricks well, but that doesn't mean hes not a complete d-bag. I really dont think people admire him for anything other then being a pretty decent skater.

Regardless of what Ryan has done off of the skateboard, he has brought more light onto the sport and has now landed skateboarding on the front cover on a bigtime sports magazine, if thats not spreading the stoke, I dont know what is.
