I tried teaching my friend how to slide though but he failed...
He's getting an Ed Hardy longboard because his dad is getting a few for free.
But Ed Hardy longboards, when I heard that I was just like wtf they make skateboards?

...well, to be fair I did see two in the city during a festival this year also.

Saw one for the first time in my life about a month ago - took a short cruise on his board.
That's why I'm here, that's why I bought a setup myself - to check out pumping on flat ground.

I can give you a tally how many longboarders I've seen (and I'm tuned in - I've been skating for about 20 years), itemized by year:

One of them was open in Wal Mart, I rode it down the aisle... I was surprised, sort of like a self-pumping board. Ever ride one? Buy one for the kids, and you can steal it from them whenever you want a change of pace. I'd like to see how one of them actually rides on real pavement.

It's not worth buying it, after 2 weeks of riding the ball bearings on the part that spins that holds the wheels show and get dirt, rocks in it and it locks up, also the wheels melt in 4 hours on board.

I've been longboarding for two years now and have gotten three of my friends into it (one skates to work every day!). Thats it for Ames, Iowa.
Thus I must build my own longboarding army from scratch.

wow.... it really is popular in some places.

on my travels i barely see another.... it's rare enough to see them that if i do, i try to stop em for a chat and recrewt them!

even during the spring/summer when skaters come out in force... i'd be lucky to see one longboarder a week.

I am sitting beside a Swiss longboarder, slalom (haha, my friend, so I guess that doesn't count :P ). Other than that.. sometimes I see people with longboards on campus. We aren't allowed to ride them there though (really sucks you can't skate there); but they don't have a problem with my BMX bike which is odd because that causes more damage than a skateboard would ever do. I think it could really catch on here as we have very nice hills in eastern Kentucky.
