I wish...

There are obviously a few in the area, but
St Louis can be a bit sluggish when waking up to awesomeness, it seems.
(think: Punk Rock was somehow cooler here in the '90s than it was in the '80s)

the GF just got back from 2 weeks in Washington and Oregon - said they were everywhere.
-told her it was a sign we should move.
I'm not kidding, WOMAN!!!

Yesterday I saw two others. Unfortunately, one was my boyfriend and the other was his friend who we skate with all the time.

i usually skate with a group of 4+ longboarders and we just about always see a couple other kids longboarding everytime we go out. Usually they are the preppy kid stereotypes with the flipflops, plaid shorts, polo, hat pointed way up in the air, and barley able to push down the street.

i live in a VERY "shortboard" heavy town. even with all these skaters -- many getting up in years -- i've seen only like 2 or 3 other longboards besides mine. meanwhile, i see a kid on one almost every time i travel to the next town over. i think sometimes that the dominant skate culture in my town helps to encourage the view that street/park/short boarding IS skateboarding.

both local skateshops carry SOME longboards and gear -- and i even see them selling. but i still never see the riders of that product.
