I was fortunate enough to receive a large box of Concrete Waves from Never Summer, for Munnsville, but was unable to pack it for the flight. I have instead been bringing issues to the doctors office, skate shops and anywhere else I could sense that a copy would interest someone. This got me thinking, could free concrete waves bring more people into the sport? I know that the printing for the issues is expensive, but it seems if a couple more sponsors stepped in, the magazine would be able to be printed. Subscriptions would allow readers to receive more special items in the mail, or could be set up like a donation system back to the magazine.
A free dvd of evolutions would also be a great tool to draw more people into the sport. In many of the local skateshops there is a snowboard/skateboard version of evolutions called "Flo" that is free, and appears to be doing very well. "Flo" is used to show trailers of upcoming dvds, contests and athlete bios of several different sports and seems to be a great marketing tool for each of the video parts associated. If Evolutions were able to take a similar approach, it seems like many people who were interested in longboarding and those aspects of the sport would get the dvd and be able to learn more about the sports and the people behind it pushing the limits.

I know at one point Michael was talking about the evolutions dvd that came with one of the magazines a while back. He was asking everyone to make as many copies of it as they could, and get them around best they could; whether be it showing them to friends, or dropping them off at shops. I think that's one real good way to do it.

I plan on burning a copy and keeping it for myself, then bringing the real dvd to my local skateshop and putting it on repeat on the shop tv.
Burned cds seems like a great idea to spread the stoke peer to peer, but if I left a big pile of blank cds at a local shop, how many people are going to pick that up? If the dvd's have a nice dvd jacket and well laid out display, they seem like they would be picked up in almost an instant.
i've often thought leaving CW mags at dentists and doctors waiting rooms would be a sick idea. I might get a subscription for that very reason.
as for free promo DVDs at surf shops, thats a sweet idea. but ur right, they would have to be eye catching. I might put it to my local surf store as a marketing tactic for them. if people watch it and like it, they'll want to know how to get a board, which in turn will lead them back to the store and finally make them realise that they can buy longboards right there.
