Dang, I cant believe I missed out on this, but work should really come first I guess.
Definition A
A core company is one that furthers the profit seeking copy-catter mainstream mass marketing, claiming laurels and special status because of their time in the marketplace or in the names behind the company. Their consumer base is highly reactive to peer pressure and lifestyle, which means the relationship between the primary product and the secondary or tertiary products are reversed. "core" becomes a term associated with being legitimate. Basically a joke!
Definition B
A core company is one that furthers the parent market void of secondary or tertiary focus. Their consumer base is highly reactive to activity and performance. Therefore there is no need to even make such a claim, the product speaks for itself.
The real question is what is the parent market, is it skateboarding or is it lifestyle? Therein lies which definition you choose. My input is that 90% of the companies and shops that claim to be “core” fall into definition A; that’s why they make the claim or associativity.
Making the claim that you are "core" (whatever that means) is a guarantee that you are not legit, or else they wouldn't have hide behind the terminology to gain a customer base.

no such thing as a 'core company..
hardcore only applies to skaters..
but i suppose if you get enough of them on a team, you can call that company core.
The melting of German/Jewish/Swiss and the land of a Thousand Isles....
It's all Kosher to me.
Nah, it's not Kosher.
While at an orthodox Jewish business in NYC, I made the mistake of ordering a pastrami on dark rye with swiss cheese when it came time for lunch. They kindly informed the goyim that he wasn't going to get cheese and meat on the same sandwich. But I do love a rueben, Rueben. (to rip off an ad currently running on the idiot box)
No meat and cheese sharing the covers of fine rye bread? That's as unholy as it gets! I suppose no dill spear on the same plate as some hearty ridged chips to boot? Why, this whole mess is unorthodox.
In protest at this time, I shall have my foreskin surgically reattached as a showing of my disapproval for the treatment of this meek, yet mighty sammich. Can I have an Amen?
uh.. does this whole "no meat and cheese"policy affect the world of bagels with cream cheese and lox?

Not core: massive online skateshops that reserve large amounts of limited stock to sell the brainless suburban children of america. Massive online skateshops that price their goods close to wholesale, because they can absorb the lower markup due to large quantity orders.
However, I do support online skateshops, actually only the one. This is because [have met the guy, and actually he is my competitor for the area; and you know what, I rep his store as much as I rep mine. Infact I will rep any skateshop I have had good relations with, because know they have invested and lost a massive amount of money competing with larger retailers and online shops who put in minimum orders of $5000.00. Core is committed.
Core has nothing to do with if only "real" skaters wear your t-shirts. Core is that you can only print 100.
Core skate company's don't exist my friend, if you want to be a discerning consumer, look at how that company runs it's business, and treats their skate team. It's the same as any other company.
