Re: what is a CORE skate company....
to me, "core" means that the shop/retailer:
-knows their product, above and beyond the sales brochure
-can give good, sound advice about said product
-actively participates in the local skate scene
-has skateboarding experience
-has an open mind...above and beyond the s9 "bubble"
-is willing to casually chat, and build a rapport with customers, even if the customer doesn't buy stuff very often
-isn't a douche to customers
i had to put that last one on there...i've had experiences with shops, that fit all of the above but they were either huge douches to me, or i saw them being douches to other customers (as in, saying my board sucks because it's not s9...really belittling customers because they're not "in the know"...etc.)
and i can give you a list of shops that i've dealt with, who are according to my definitions "core."
