Default New board for LDP

So I've got an oldish Sector9 Cloud9 complete that got hit by a car (but survived mostly intact, minus the no-name trucks and my Kryptonics Classic 76mms). Went to a shop and replaced the trucks with Gullwing Alpines from an Arbor board (so it came with Arbor 70mm 78a wheels) and I've got Bones Swiss bearings.

Safe to say I nearly died from wheelbite right out of the door until i tightened up the trucks, but either way it failed hard for pumping and speed both before and after the modifcations.

5'4", 160lb, on all types of roads (some brand new and great, some that are essentially lots of rocks glued together), and relatively mild hills.
The skateshops around here either don't sell longboards, have staff who knows NOTHING (but pretends to), or tries to offload whatever crap they have on you saying it's great.

Budget's not a huge issue, and while I've read all the faqs and whatnot, it seems everything I end up buying is totally wrong or defective. Been riding around for about a month now, and I'm looking for something that works better.

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Thanks,
f0r
