you can pump pretty much anything, but your stock set up might not be as easy as a setup that can maybe tightening up your back truck use a harder bushing if you have one and make your front looser might help you learn, slalom type wheels help too, and wedging the front and dewedging the back helps

i think theres several ways to pump and its really not easy to describe how to do it, but heres my description, get some speed, a few pushes, its hard to pump from a stop,
when i pump i use my legs alot, when i turn the board i put extra force using one of my legs, like the back of the board its not like a kick though, its like a thrust, and then when i turn i back i do the same. i can do with both legs in both directions, each time i turn doing this you should feel yourself accelerating if you are pumping correctly

theres another way where you throw your body weight each time you have your board turn

probably the best thing to do is find someone who can pump and skate with them, next is look at youtube videos and try to imitate pumpers movements, its kind of hard to read about it just keep practicing
