Re: Huntsville, Alabama
The parking garages tend to be a big bust. The Hospital ones are the biggest busts and they always get the cops involved. The one across from the Utilities building/off the square was always my favorite. You just have to know which garages you can skate and when. When is the key. Sundays and late nights always worked best.
Monte Sano is an intense ride. Well actualy most of it is pretty mellow until you hit that turn around the Land Trust parking lot. The grade gets real steep there. Lots of speed. Be sure to inspect that corner before riding. You can get rocks from cars coming out of the LT parking lot. That one stretch of Fern Drive is fun for the turns. Too bad about the traffic or that backside of Governors Drive would be a real blast. Just one long downhill.
Now the Cecil Ashburn/Four Mile Post Extension is lots of fun when the traffic isn't too bad. Either side of that or that stretch in the middle, you can't go wrong. Pad up.
Insanity on a longboard was okay. It was Insanity. I skated it a couple times with different longboards. The bowl at the Huntsville park was just stupid on a longboard. I skated one with an 18 wheelbase and that was okay but any longer and it's just not working.
Lots of good hills to skate in Huntsville. Get with Moldyghost. He knows the good ones. I know I gave him my list of favorites from when I lived there.
Don't forget to skate those ditches. You got 'em so skate 'em. Those are a blast on the longboard.
There are lots of nice long hills out around Buck's Pocket if you're coming from Guntersville. Long Straight and you can see the traffic, if any, from miles away.
I heard about this one guy that did the backside of Green Mtn. That is trully insane.
