Default Re: Beginner DH advice?

well, im by no means a pro at DH, but i have riden my fair share of hills/setups and ill share what ive found
get a full face helmet and pads first off
i think that a good deck to start out with would be a drop-thru, being that it is the middle ground in DH design.low=stable but not dropped, so you still get nice turn action coming from a cruising backround.drop thru may be a good place to start...
for trucks, any wide truck (~180mm) works well. look for baseplates from 52* all the way to 35*.a good plan might be get some randall 180s, as well as a variety of the randal baseplates (35*40*52*) and see what you like best.another good bet is some bear grizzleys.a good truck that can be flipped to offer a 47* baseplate angle (a good middle ground for DH IMO).
as for wheels, maybe lemon bigzigs or 76-83mm flywheels at 79a...
speedvents,bennet alligators, EW superballs 76mm....
good upgrades are also:khiro bushing kit/jimz bushings,nose/tail gaurd and leathers.

have fun going fast!
